Alan Wake and Quantum Break Dev Providing Studio Update Soon

What's next for Remedy Entertainment?

Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind the Alan Wake and Quantum Break franchises, among others, will share some new information on what's next in the coming weeks, apparently.

Head of communications Thomas Puha said on Twitter (via DualShockers) that he's preparing a blog post that will discuss the studio's status that he'll share soon. In another tweet, Puha said you shouldn't expect formal game reveals until later. "Just [a] short update, no reveal or nothing like that, just a studio update kind of thing," he said.

Remedy has been teasing new projects for a while. In August, the developer confirmed that, in addition to working with Korean developer Smilegate on the campaign for CrossFire 2, the studio has a secretive project in the works.

This game is said to be in the conceptual stage and is "pretty far off." That said, there is already a prototype and Remedy is shopping it around to publishers. The Finnish studio worked most recently with Microsoft on the time-bending action game Quantum Break.

In September this year, Remedy confirmed that it had started making multiplayer games.

"We want to challenge ourselves to find ways to also expand these elements to include cooperative multiplayer," the studio said about its new efforts. "We will always strive to be the best storytellers we possibly can, and we want these stories to be shared and elevated through players' cooperation. We believe that a multiplayer experience combined with Remedy's unique world-building provides an exceptional environment for that."

Allying with MS is not a good strategy this gen, go with a broader audience.

They need to finish off Quantum Break with a DLC about the end of time. They gave us a lot of interesting exposition about what happened but we never saw it, i personally really enjoyed the game and I think it would be a shame to leave us hanging.

Oh great, the Windows 10 store hookers that aren't even able to offer the cinematics downloadable on PC for Quantum Break. Horrific performance included.

No offense but I hope this update is either about shutting down or downsizing to be more easily ignored.

Haven't bought anything from Remedy for more than 2$ in a decade. Not seeing that changing

A shame, Max Payne was excellent. Whatever happened.

" We wont reveal either game until closer to launch. a dilemma, you want people to know what we working on (helps hiting) but quiet is good."

Meh, I can understand that as a musician. Refreshing honestly, once announced we don't have to wait long for the hype train to build up, and ultimately let it be a disappointment on many levels.

I am all for transparency, but it takes a mature society. In all honesty the grand majority of people react emotional, and usually with very little logic, just as they always have. So flying under the radar may be the better tactic.

Its been so long since the original Alan Wake launched, and it left a lot to be desired. An Alan Wake 2 is the only thing I can get excited from them.

I used to idol remedy, and relic entertainment - honestly though, and sadly, I feel that remedy is making the same mistakes with a number of their IP's... and might end up going to way of relic.

New Alan Wake please and thank you. But with all the info out there so far, I'm not holding much hope for it.

What's next for Remedy?

Apparently not a performance patch for the W10 version of Quantum Break.

@brianhaslip:

End of support for Win 10 version was announced months ago...unless something has changed since then.

Hopefully you bought the Digital XBO version and received the PC version complimentary. Many PC gamers, including myself learned our lesson about MS through GFWL.

Cool. I really enjoyed Alan Wake and Quantum Break so I look forward to hearing what they may be doing next even if it won't be a formal game announcement.

Puha said you shouldn't expect formal game reveals until later. "Just [a] short update, no reveal or nothing like that, just a studio update kind of thing," he said.

So something like..

'Pete, head of marketing, got a new dog today. His name is Reggie.'
