The team behind Alien: Isolation have frequent discussions about the direction of a potential sequel, according to the game's lead developer.

Alien: Isolation, which was developed at UK studio The Creative Assembly, shipped on consoles and PC in October and was generally well received among most critics. It is unclear how many copies the game sold, however, nor is there much to indicate whether publisher Sega identifies enough commercial potential for a sequel.

But Gary Napper, a lead developer on the original, says his team is already discussing how the studio would approach Alien Isolation 2.

"The plot for a sequel is a daily topic in the studio sometimes," Napper said in an interview with AVPGalaxy. [PLOT SPOILERS FOLLOW]

"People have their own ideas for where it should go, our writers have some solid concepts and yes, we do have a great opportunity to continue her story," he added.

“I personally think that Amanda did not get infected in the hive, as when she wakes, the closest egg remains closed.”

Asked whether a potential sequel would be more action-oriented, a la James Cameron’s Aliens, Napper appeared unconvinced that would be the right approach.

"I think the action-oriented Aliens style game is very different from what Isolation is. If we made a sequel I would like to stick to the same terrifying single Alien approach but do more with the environment and interactivity within it."

Although many publications offered strong recommendations for Alien Isolation, other critics aired reservations. GameSpot's Alien Isolation review wrote that the game "provides us a glimpse into a future that holds the Alien game you've always wanted. It is not, however, the vessel that carries you there."
