The game is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The creative director of Alien: Isolation, Al Hope, has announced a sequel to the horror game. He shared the announcement on Twitter to celebrate the game's 10-year anniversary.

"Today, I'm delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development," Hope explained. "We look forward to sharing more details with you when we're ready." While he didn't provide any other details, logos on the announcement suggest the game will be developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega, just like the first one.

Alien: Isolation was first released in October 2014 and has been placed on many platforms over the years, including PC, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, and mobile. It also received a web series adaptation in 2019, as well as a companion book in 2022.

In GameSpot's Alien: Isolation review, we said, "Alien: Isolation provides us a glimpse into a future that holds the Alien game you've always wanted. It is not, however, the vessel that carries you there." GameSpot also celebrated the game's milestone by looking back at why it was so divisive amongst fans and critics.

While it's unclear when the sequel to Alien: Isolation will release, fans can enjoy a new movie from the franchise, Alien Romulus, in the meantime. There's also a new TV series called Alien: Earth set to air in 2025.

Didn't Creative Assembly hire people for Isolation, some of them veteran developers, then disbanded the team after it was done. Because they usually work on the Total War series. They could hire people again I suppose. Looking forward to what they come up with anyway!

This is somewhat shocking news, especially because I'm fairly certain Sega was disappointed with its sales, so a sequel is something I was wanting but not expecting. Awesome news.

Nice! Alien: Isolation was not far below Space Marine on my list of games I'd like (but don't expect to ever see) a sequel for. So maybe there's still hope for a new Freespace after all. : p

let's do it! I actually enjoy Alien: Isolation. Creative Assembly did a great job with the atmosphere and making you feel immersed within the Alien universe. I hope that horror aspect sticks around for the sequel but I'd understand if they have to change it in order to fit the storyline, but please, keep it a horror setting.

It has been 10 years now and I've still not recovered enough mentally to play Alien Isolation 2...
