All-Digital Xbox One Launches Today, Kicking Off A New Era Of Xbox

Actually, the Xbox One S All Digital Edition Console has slightly more graphical processing power than the One S. I can see the appeal. Most people, like me, prefer digital games and like Xbox Play Anywhere. Discs, and downloads, are basically the same nowadays. The disk just serves as a key to install the game.

So you save a whole 50 bucks in exchange for the lack of any disc drive and are forced to buy all your games from MS' store. Yeah, that sure seems like a great trade off. Even more so since the normal version even comes with a 4K capable drive. Although those probably barely cost anything today either.

Most folks want a disc drive. I do. I like to be able to play my games I have on disk. I like the blue-ray for movies as well. I know the trend is moving toward streaming/downloads but I enjoy buying used games for titles I want available in my physical library. I like borrowing/lending movies too. I would rather start all over with Play Station than be forced to give up the drive. I have been gaming for about 30 years.

I just want some damn Gears 5 news lol.

you all can whine all you want but being priced lower than something else can work wonders for a product, I dont care, i lost hope in gamers and their decision making skills a long time ago since it seems they're allergic to money and wanna toss it away as soon as possible, either on preorders, kickstarters from already rich companies or dlc, when the govt has bills incoming to stop you from spending, to save you from yourself then things are bad, microsoft isnt dumb, the consumer is.

Interested to see how this does. I think they messed up on the price point. If they weren’t able to lower the price, maybe add on some storage or something.

I’m not a fanboy. I own or have owned nearly every video game console ever made. I have no particular loyalty to XBOX. Having said that, I am a consumer. If, as a consumer, I don’t want a blu ray player, why should I buy one? If I don’t buy used games, why should I need one? The online sales get you to roughly the same price point as GameStop anyway and I don’t have to deal with discs or store clerks trying to sell me crappy DLC, crappier warranties or begging me to do an online customer satisfaction survey so I can earn extra points to spend on Avengers Funko POP dolls or whatnot.

Better yet, what if I already have an Xbox and want an extra one for my bedroom, mancave, office, whatever? It’s an option. It’s not for everybody and I think the article makes that clear.

This isn't going to fail when it's $150 or less in six months.

For the sake of consumer choice I hope this epically fails. MS is testing the waters for the next Xbox. I question anyone willing to buy a console at virtually the same price, size, and features as a product that also offers the ability to buy second hand games at a 3rd the value. Not to mention a Digital version makes you beholden to MS for all purchases. Had it been smaller and cheaper I would see some benefits.

I am not impressed. I mean, yeah - I buy most games digitally as is so this isn't losing much for me but I DO have a few Blur Rays I'd like to have the ability to still use and a version of the Xbox One S with a disc drive can go as low as $209 on Amazon from resellers, so paying $41 more for one without a drive seems... not that great of a deal to me.

Now, if the price of this was dropped to, say, $120 then it makes sense. And I am sure MS could sell it at a loss since this will just up the number of games pass subscribers. That would make sense, to be honest. But at $250 it's just too expensive for what it is.
