LG's C1 4K OLED TV is a wonderful TV for gaming if you have an Xbox Series X, PS5, or high-end PC.

16 Comments

Upgrading to a more powerful console or gaming PC naturally nets you better gaming performance, but you need a good TV to truly witness all the graphical enhancements. Luckily, our favorite 4K TV for gaming, LG's OLED C1, is currently on sale for its lowest price yet at Amazon. The best deal can be found on the 65-inch model, which is discounted to $1,597, over $50 cheaper than its previous biggest discount.

Amazon's deal specifically applies to the 65-inch model. There are 48-, 55-, 77-, and 83-inch models as well, and they all feature the same capabilities as the 65-inch version currently on sale, but you can't find as good of a deal on them. That said, if you're okay with a smaller display, you can get the 55-inch model for only $1,097. Meanwhile, the 48-inch version is down to $997.

Be sure to check our list of the best 4k TVs for gaming if you’re looking for other TVs that pair well with the PS5 or Xbox Series X.

I prefer Quantum Dot. It's potential far exceeds Oled. Not to mention the mini and micro led tv's on the horizon. Sony just released a great tv, mini led I believe. But Sony doesn't just rely on the tech, they have some of the best software in the market.

My wife thought I was crazy spending over $2K to replace both of our TVs with LG C1s last year, but they are hands down the best TV purchase I've ever made. They replaced two TCL 55" Rokus, which have the absolute worst OS with the sets randomly restarting at worst times - and it happened to both sets and a replacement unit. Haven't had a single reboot with the LGs and the WebOS politely stays out of the way.

The Game Optimizer mode is great (DEFINITELY recommend you watch HDTVTest's YouTube channel for really good setting tips for both Xbox Series X and PS5). It handles 120hz 4K from the Series X without any issue, and the eARC channel out to my Vizio Dolby Atmos soundbars work perfectly. I also pass my signals through a Hue Sync Box, which thanks to updates last year DOES pass 120hz signal AND VRR through - tested and confirmed. Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, low lag, 120hz, VRR, etc, etc...

LG C1s are the absolute best choice at a reasonable price, especially given these price drops. If money isn't an issue, though, you may want to look at the newer C2s (though even HDTVTest thinks the number of improvements doesn't warrant taking the newer set over the now-lower priced C1.)

@marklodi: Well you replaced two cheap shit tv's with premium sets (I'm talking quality, not price). Definitely makes the C1 seem better than it is compared to what you replaced. Be careful of burn-in. It may be slight, and barely noticeable, but once you notice it, you can't un-notice it, lol.

Unfortunately my friend had parts of the tv's menu burn-in and screwed him with warranty claims.

I love my LG TV. I don't game more than a couple hours a night. I really regret buying the only 55 inch and spending 3k on an Omen laptop which I never use ( I have both consoles).

The C1 does have pretty bad image retention sometimes depending on content and what you are doing with it. I've had mine over a year now and i would not recommend it if you are using a tv where you need to leave it on a static display for too long. Just turn the screen off when not using it or not in the room etc though and you will be fine.

It's a great TV but nothing is perfect.

@deviltaz35:

Well is all about the user and how well or poor you or they maintain or treat their TV. I have a C1 2018 LG OLED version and it is still working and running like a champ. Again is all about how you use this TV's.

Myself i don't game for long hours and is rather more like a couple of hours like 2 and in rare occasions maybe 3 hours and i don't even game everyday.

If you are a person who game a lot and tent to do long hours sections playing games, then an OLED TV is not the TV for you. A Samsung QLED TV is the better choice for your type of gaming.

Nice TV, but I wouldn't use it as a PC gaming monitor.

I have a 77 C1 and it's worth ever penny.

It's the only TV that has better black levels than my old Panasonic VT60 Plasma, thou, the Plasma performs is better on motion, especially on 24fps movies and fast motion sports. it's just smoother.

@dirtydyk:Yeah black frame insertion helps a lot but I sometimes miss my plasma; at least it seems like people are going with oled these days over LCD lately. I remember no one buying plasma when the quality gap was just massive between LCD vs plasma and it was really sad.

@Naylord: Yup... Marketing beats quality.

I remember the "Burn In" fear. Completely unfounded.

The tech publications would run a static image for months to get a burn in and then the headlines were "The Plasma burn-in Problem"

I've had this thing for about 9 years, still works as new. It's not as bright as the OLED, but there's nothing better for a Classic film.

@dirtydyk: They do have image retention in certain cases though. It's not burn in as such it just can take a while for an image to fade out. No big deal.

@deviltaz35: You're right there. Image retention does happen, especially if there's a static image for a while.

For example, if I watch CNN for an hour and change the channel on the plasma, the lower bar will stay slightly visible for about 5-8 seconds. Then it goes away.

Regardless, even today, in order to get better performance from an LED, you gotta go premium. The $1500 mark of TVs still doesn't beat it.

Excellent TV indeed. I bought one in December. It blows my Samsung out of the water. I’m not ever one to jump on the hype wagon, but this TV truly makes a big difference. I’m absolutely loving it and so does everyone else that sees it when they visit my home.

@Joefatty2x4: Yeah. LG OLED TVs are absolutely deserving of the hype. I had a friend of mine annoy the crap out of me recently, because he was saying expensive TVs aren’t worth it and that they all look the same. I explained to him that OLED, particularly LG, is unlike any other picture, and he just rolled his eyes at me. I really want to get a C1.

@stickemup: yeh they do look great - it's definitely the next genuine improvement for tv's, like the jump from SD to HD then HD to UHD. Things like 3d and curved tellies are just gimmicks but the OLED thing isn't.

I bought a UHD LG about 3 years ago (with the magic remote!!!!!) but the OLED's at the time were about £3k - compared to the £600 I paid for mine - but I'll def get the OLED one next time.
