America's Army deploying on X360

Red Storm Entertainment and US Army bringing latest in wargame series to Xbox 360 this September.

France may not see eye to eye with the US's current foreign policy, but France-based publisher Ubisoft apparently sees no reason not to propagate America's Army. Ubisoft today announced it would be bringing America's Army: True Soldier to the Xbox 360 this September. True Soldier marks the second console iteration of the US Army's recruitment-minded tool since Ubisoft struck a deal to publish the wargame back in 2004.

In a fitting move, Ubisoft has tapped military-minded Red Storm Entertainment to develop True Soldier. Red Storm's recent credits include Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Portable. Red Storm and the US Army are hoping to create an authentic, real-world experience in True Soldier, and the Ubisoft-owned developer will be bringing over its GRAW2 engine to help see that happen.

True Soldier will feature both single-player and multiplayer modes. Players can expect to assume the role of a rifleman, grenadier, automatic rifleman, and sniper as they progress their careers in the single-player campaign.

True Soldier's multiplayer mode will feature eight maps, as well as clan support over Xbox Live. In an attempt to add realism, the multiplayer game will also include a respect mechanic, and players can award teammates points for noteworthy gameplay. Also, skills earned in the single-player campaign, such as valor, marksmanship, stealth, and conditioning, will be integrated into the multiplayer portion of the game.

America's Army: True Soldier has been rated T for Teen. No price has yet been announced.

We can all just wait for AA 3.0 for PC. I'm about 99% positive that it will be free, and hopefully better than 2.8 because they will be using the new unreal engine 3. The question is...why pay for it? Other than the people who are obbssesed with graphics.

The US Army has already proclaimed its games as propaganda, and unashamedly so. Regardless, this game isn't any more pro-American or pro-military than other games of the type.

Wow, I can't believe they're targetting teenagers 13+ for Army recruitment. What's next, illegal aliens? Oh wait, they're already doing that.

I sort of liked ROAS but it did lack some good features, but I belive ubisoft learns from its mistakes, considering that it continues to make the ghost recon series better and better, so I sincerely hope that A*A:TS will be good

I hate America's Army, the training part was good, but the multiplayer was horrible. Wtf, I never knew who the hell I was shooting at, and I had to go through some loading screen to be put in a jail. Good thing it was free, this one isn't.

This game has officially got me spending way too much this september. This game looks how ghost recon once was. With Red Storm and not Ubisoft Paris developing this game, i am officially excited. Frankly i got scared when i say Ubisoft, but when i heard the company formerly owned by Tom Clancy was making it i just know it will be a classic.

I hope this turns out well, it seems pretty cool to have an official US Army game. But we all know that this could end up being very forgettable, remember the history channel civil war game?... yeah, me neither

By the way, it's no coincidence that America's Army is being published by Ubisoft, as one of the CIA's venture capital firms has a stake in Ubi. Why ? Well, because great game engines and physics can also make great military simulators... ;-) And oh, why not spread a little pro-american military-industrial complex propapanga through the Tom Clancy franchise, while we're at it ! (and note that I am in NO way dissing those games; just saying that the Tom Clancy franchise was born at the same time the CIA got their stake in Ubi; you be the judges... )

Regardless of the silly squabbles you are all having about American Army's political ramifications (forget it kids, you ain't gonna change the world... you just ain't...), my only reservations is this: If AA: True Soldier is anywhere near as crap as the original PC game, I'd avoid it like the Bubonic Plague.

I find it hilarious that console owners have to pay for America's Army titles when it's free on PC.

Timstuff, it's not your taxdollars that are being spent. Ubisoft owns the rights to make and publish console games for America's Army and the game is being developed by Red Strom Entertainment. At most the US military will just give expert advise on some things in the game.

@jackie2071 "MAC4- oh come now you could do better then that. cuz i know dam well you could read what i typed! and my words must have struck cord some where for you to lash out like that. tho thank for the tip" OH MY GOODNESS!! For you to at least guess what I felt after reading your first post, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE A FREAKIN' PSYCHIC!! At least your reply to my post looks helluva better than the first one. Now that said, I can safely tell myself that I did my job by actually helping someone out and seeing some results. And yes, you're welcome.
