Angry Birds Movie 3 Release Date Announced With A Huge Cast Of Big Names
Early 2027 is becoming stacked for big video game movies; Sonic 4 and Zelda also release then.
Following its announcement in 2024, The Angry Birds 3 movie now has a release date and a new distributor. Paramount Pictures will distribute The Angry Birds 3 when it releases on January 29, 2027, the company announced today. Sony Pictures distributed the first two movies.
Paramount also confirmed the star-studded cast for The Angry Birds 3, which includes returning actors Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom, and Danny McBride. Coming aboard for the film in new roles are Emma Myers, Keke Palmer, Tim Robinson, Lily James, Marcello Hernandez, Walker Scobell, and Sam Richardson, among others.
Angry Birds creator Rovio is involved with the movie, too, along with Rovio owner Sega.

The Angry Birds Movie 3 is directed by John Rice, who returns after directing The Angry Birds Movie 2. The Angry Birds 2 writer Thurop Van Orman is writing the third movie. Heitor Pereira, who scored the previous two Angry Birds movies, is returning for the third. DNEG Animation is handling the storyboard, art development, and animation for The Angry Birds Movie 3.
The two Angry Birds movies so far have grossed more than $500 million combined at the global box office. The first movie made $352 million at the box office, with the 2019 sequel earning $148 million globally.
Paramount also produces the popular Sonic the Hedgehog movie series. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is coming in March 2027, so it'll arrive not long after The Angry Birds Movie 3, assuming the schedules hold. Also due for release in 2027 is Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda live-action movie in March 2027.
As for the Angry Birds game series, 2022's Angry Birds Journey is the newest installment. In 2023, Sega bought Rovio for $776 million, saying it splashed out major cash to help grow its footprint in the mobile market.
