Another Crab's Treasure Is Getting One Shell Of An Update With New Game Plus, Boss Rush

Underwater soulslike Another Crab's Treasure is set to receive a huge free update on April 21, featuring an assortment of requested features like New Game Plus, a boss rush mode, additional cosmetics, fresh upgrades, and even all-new trophies and achievements.

Developer Aggro Crab has shared that the Year of the Crab update for Another Crab's Treasure will land free on all platforms later this month, one year after the shell-hopping adventure's initial launch. The update feels like a victory lap for the team that brought home the 2024 Golden Joystick Award for Best Self-Published Indie Game, bringing fans of the game a significant amount of new content to enjoy--including the most requested feature, a New Game Plus mode.

“New Game Plus is by FAR the most requested from the community ever since we launched Another Crab’s Treasure, and the response to the game has been so overwhelming that we thought we might as well!" Caelan Pollock, Aggro Crab Writer & Creative Director, shared in a press release on Monday.

“We could have lazily scaled up enemy stats and called it a day, but we’re built different, so we added new moves to bosses, some new items, and oh yeah, remixed almost every enemy encounter in the game," Pollock continued. "Hope you all enjoy, and thank you SO SO much for all the support on this game! We’re excited to show you what’s next as soon as it’s ready! It won’t be long now…”

In addition to the Year of the Crab update, Aggro Crab has also teamed with merchandising company iam8bit to bring physical editions of Another Crab's Treasure to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch at a later date. These physical editions will include the Year of the Crab DLC, as well as additional surprises the team isn't ready to share yet.

Another Crab's Treasure is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Players can get their hands on the free Year of the Crab update on April 21.
