Another Film Has Been Delayed Indefinitely, Following Tenet
Tenet's postponement seems to have caused another cascade of release date changes.
Hot on the heels of the news that Christopher Nolan's Tenet would be delayed indefinitely, Sony has also pushed back The Broken Hearts Gallery, a rom-com produced by Selena Gomez. According to reporting by Deadline, Sony and other studios are now waiting to see how the situation with theaters shapes up, in the face of increasing numbers of new COVID-19 cases in the United States.
Just like Tenet, Broken Hearts Gallery has been pushed back multiple times as cinema closures extended. Once intended to premiere on July 10, it was pushed back a week to July 17, then to August 7 as cinemas in the big markets of New York City and LA remained closed.
Now Broken Hearts Gallery no longer has a planned release date, though Sony clearly wants the movie to be one of the first off the block when cinemas re-open. Theater chains seem to be ready to open in lower risk areas, but end up waiting on the studios to release new content to re-open with. Major theater chains are having to push their opening dates back as movies get delayed again and again.
Broken Hearts Gallery is written and directed by Natalie Krinsky in her directorial debut. It stars Dacre Montgomery of Stranger Things fame alongside Geraldine Viswanathan (Blockers).
