Anthem VIP Demo Had Issues That Even Affected Other EA Games

Who here is actually buying this game? Not me. I won't buy another Bioware game again after Mass Effect Andromeda.

Still wasn't fixed on PS4 about an hour before the demo play time ended yesterday. I'm still optimistic about this game, but the issues that the game had with load times and match-making has me more than a bit worried for release.

Division 2 > Anthem.

Tried to get in again this morning, stuck on the loading screen again when trying to start an expedition. I managed to get in once Saturday morning, but wasn't able to get in any other time I tried in the three days. The mission I played was pretty boring by all accounts, but I would have liked to have seen more. I have Origin access so at this point I'll just wait and play the ten hour trial of the finished product before I pass judgement, but it doesn't look good for this game.

Well the servers are up and running, login issues and lagging are gone. But once you do story missions and stronghold, there's serious lack of activities. Free roam is devoid of life and "public" events are super easy and lack scale.

I hope they put some thought into it or this is going to be a very short trip.

I am sorry to hear that so many people are having issues well trying to play the Anthem demo. Maybe I have just been lucky so far but I was able to get online and play and have had no trouble yet. That is not to say that the game does not have it’s problems. For one, I could have done without the “overheating” mechanic at all on your Javelins. If Tony Stark can design a suit that does not overheat every thirty seconds and needs to fly through water to cool it down then so can the people that live in the world of Anthem, to me anyway this game mechanic is just not fun. Can you just imagine if Air Force fighter pilots had to fly there F-22 Raptors into water every few minutes on a mission to keep from crashing! Dumb, and just bad game design.

As to all of the people complaining that they paid there money to play a demo that does not work, no, you paid your money to preorder a game. The demo was included as a perk for your preorder. You are placing a down payment on a game that you may or may not decide to buy later. And if you do not like the game you can always get you money back by canceling your preorder, even if you payed in full for the game, it is just that simply.

With all of that being said, I agree with everyone else in that EA and Bioware did a piss poor job in the way that they have implemented this demo so far. You can not plan for everything that may go wrong. But, I find it kind of strange that they did not anticipate at least the possibility of high demand on there servers and have more capacity set to go at almost just the flip of a switch so to speak. But then again this is EA, need I say any more?

Origin is such a piece of crap. I just used it two weeks ago without issue, and now it won't even open.

I’ll be waiting for this as a PS4 plus freebie or down the road if a really good deal hits. Maybe by that time they’ll have most issues addressed. This game feels like any other EA game that gets rushed out the door. Even though it’s still a month off.

I can't get over how bad the character faces are in this game. Most of the male npc are feminize and nearly all the women are masculine with male haircuts.

Seems like one of those massive failures happened in the worst moment. Well, can't say I feel sorry for the worst company in America.

If you’re able to actually get in the game on Xbox expect extreme lag issues. I’m talking serious rubber banding. Never seen it in any game as bad as this

I wonder how many people are playing? May be low population causing long load times?

When I can play the game, it's fun as hell. The gun play and combat mechanics are enjoyable. The enemies feel a bit bullet spongy and they will horde the hell out of you. Guns sound great, environments are beautiful, movement is fluid. Enemy A.I. I feel is not that smart. There are a lot of staggers. Sound design is good. Honestly I would buy this game. But holy hell the load times and lag are terrible. I really feel like I am playing a Beta and not a Demo. And that is BS. I spent money to pre order this game and was promised a Demo; which is a slice of a "complete" and "functioning" game but 80% of the time I am looking at a load screen wondering if I got trapped in a infinite load screen or is the game still match making. The net code is absolute crap and I could not progress at all because of frequent disconnects and infinite load screens. EA/BioWare needs to fix this before the beta ends because I am seriously considering getting my money back and waiting until this game goes on sale AFTER the fix the connectivity issues. EA/BioWare has to know that this is literally there last shot after the Starwars Battlefront 2 fiasco.

Prffft I can't even invite any friends. Clicking it on ps4 brings up a blank web page and manually trying to do it tells me I don't have the vip demo. Ea servers = Potato

*seriously, how can EA get forgiven by gamers for everything SW & the nonstop bs

Got to finish the demo, enjoyed it quite well.
My complain though would be the Matchmaking. And that still continues even right now after their so called "fixed".
Starting a mission and having it get stuck on the load screen, before even starting the mission.
EA better work on those servers, at the condition it is now and having this much problem with just the VIP demo users.

Been calling it since the E3 reveal. Anthem will be a bust.

Why do they need this EA account???
