AOC Seeks To Ban US Military From Recruiting Through Twitch And Esports [Update]

It is a good thing this bill was soundly defeated in the House as this is nothing than an attempt to restrict the speech of the U.S. military. Instead of focusing on the impractical far-left nonsense that she and other of her ilk embrace, Congresswoman Alexandria Occasio-Cortez should do something worthwile to help her constituents. She was elected to represent them, not to represent the far-left. DId she and the other Democrats forget about that?

It's so weird to me that this has become a hot button issue. Are people really this starved for conflict? The armed services needs to recruit, and they recruit young folks because they're healthy and impressionable. This is how it is in every country. It's fair to acknowledge that the military has been involved in things some Americans are not proud of, but recruitment isn't the forum for bringing that up in any sort of mature way. These are low-ranking soldiers, not generals, they don't set policy, they don't decide how other soldiers acted 50 years ago, what are they supposed to do? What is even the end game of this trolling? People join the military for a salary and free education, not because they think it's a paragon of virtue. It's one of the best ways to get an education for people that otherwise can't afford one. I'm not even anti-trolling, I think it's fine to be a dick to the navy's Twitch channel, but don't act like these people are martyrs, they're just kids looking to have some fun taking the wind out of someone they see as an authority figure. All that being said, it's also not the military people should be accusing of war crimes, it's politicians that send the military to fight unjust wars.

If they want to recruit through these channels then fine, but also dont avoid questions about war crimes or morally illicit actions taken by the military for profiteering, afterall only dictatorships seek to silence this kind of talk, and i thought the USA is meant to encourage free speech, and take criticism head on.
