GameSpot sister site CNET notes that the event is expected to bring news of new iPads and Macs.

The invitation says, "We still have a lot to cover," with leaves of various colors emerging from the Apple logo.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, California beginning at 10 a.m. PDT. It is not clear if a live-stream will be offered.

Apple's most recent news event was held last month, when the company announced the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. Chair Entertainment also announced Infinity Blade III during the event.

The fifth generation iPad is rumored to boast a thinner and lighter design, as well as an improved camera, according to the AllThingsD report. It will also reportedly run Apple's new 64-bit A7 chip.

A second generation iPad mini--featuring a retina display and the A7 chip--will also be announced at the event, the report claims.

It has been rumored that Apple's new iPads will feature the Touch ID fingerprint scanner that was first seen in the iPhone 5s, though these reports have been unsubstantiated so far.

The fourth generation iPad and iPad mini went on sale in November 2012.
