It will be a "brontosaurus-sized reveal," studio says.

Developer Studio Wildcard will announce a "ginormous," "first-of-its-kind mega-update" for the dinosaur-survival game Ark: Survival Evolved on Thursday, September 1. The developer is holding back all the specifics for now, but it did share a mysterious image that hints at what's in store.

It's not exactly clear what we're seeing in the image (below), but Studio Wildcard also referred to the announcement as being a "brontosaurus-sized reveal." What's more, the developer said it will be at PAX West this coming weekend "in full force" to show off "the new content," which will be playable.

Studio Wildcard will reveal the new update at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on September 1 through the developer's Twitch account.

PAX West runs September 2-5 in Seattle. GameSpot will have a team on the ground to bring you news and other features all weekend. The studio is also bringing its 16-foot T-Rex prop to the show (just look at how massive it is), as well as another one for the creature's "new friend," whatever that may be. Keep checking back for more.

In other news about Ark, co-creative director Jeremy Stieglitz wrote on Twitter that a new update for the Xbox One Game Preview version this week will introduce full 720p 3D rendering and 1080p UI. He also teased that Thursday's reveal is "gonna be crazy." The update will come out on Thursday around mid-day ET.

Ark is available now on Xbox One and PC. Despite not even being a finished product yet, the game has sold more than 5.5 million copies. Studio Wildcard wants to release the game on PlayStation 4, but Sony does not allow in-development games on the platform, at least not yet.

In other news, the game's free-to-play Survival of the Fittest version has been rolled back into the main game. Additionally, Ark is discounted to $21 this week on Xbox Live, presumably to celebrate this week's announcement.
