Small but deadly.

Developer Studio Wildcard released the ferocious little beasts in the game this week as part of an update. The dinosaurs, officially known as Compsognathus but commonly known as Compy, are not so scary alone. But when they group together in a "Compy Gang," that's when you'll want to be on guard.

The Ark update also adds a new rocket turret, a sea mine, a magnifying glass, persistent tribe logs, and wall laps. In addition, this update--v224--introduces a new recipe/cooking system that allows players to design their own food and drink concoctions.

Other recent creature additions have included the massive Giganotosaurus, a penguin-like creature, and an ancient Anglerfish.

Ark is available now on PC through Steam Early Access, where it's sold more than 2 million copies since its release earlier this year. An Xbox One version will be released through the console's Game Preview program very soon, while the full, complete version is slated to launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2016.

I like dinosaurs and I may consider buy this when it comes to ps4, but first, I have two important question for everyone that can answer...

1/ is it first person or third person?

and 2/ is it online only?

...I hope the answers are third person (or selectable) and no

@fyrant: No one buying early access are forced to play until the games are finished. The whole point is you get to help fund the games development and are given the choice to play a developing game and give feedback to help make it a better game on release.

@pelvist: make it a better game on release? that is IF it is released and its also paying to be an alpha tester which is stupid. that's alright....be a sheep so we can keep getting these unfinished forever early access games like Rust and Day Z, and most likely this one...maybe they'll add DLC to rape you even more while you're at it...

@fyrant: Weird. I played both Prison Architect and Kerbal Space Program through early access, and it was actually a great experience helping such committed and passionate developers to create the game they/we wanted in the way they/we wanted.

These studios don't have the starting budgets of many others, and I for one am more than happy to help them through the process in return for a cheaper game. But the thing you don't seem to be getting is that some of us humans actually enjoy helping people and being part of a larger experience. Maybe you should try it sometime?

@fyrant: There are warnings in place on Steam for everyone thinking of purchasing a game via early access and funding unfinished games will always be a risk especially with unknown developers. Thats the risk you take, but expecting a fairly ambitious game made by a hand full of amateurs to be finished in a few years is stupid -sorry.

Also you mention DayZ like it helps strengthen some immature point you are failing to make. DayZ Standalone only stared its development less than three years ago which still isnt that long to develop a game (maybe you confuse Standalone with the DAYZ mods for Arma II & III? /shrug). Furthermore DayZ Standalone -even in its current unfinished form- is a rather unique experience and arguably the best true survival game ever made.

As for Rust, it doesnt look like my kind of game, therefore I havent played it, but telling people not to buy early access because the games are unfinished just shows how much you are missing the point of "early" access.

Can you make characters that don't look like they came out of a Geico commercial yet? I am waiting to try this game until they allow me to make a character that looks like someone I would want to role-play as, and not a Neanderthal. I get that making absurdly dumb-looking avatars is funny and popular on Youtube but you're severely limiting your audience if that's ALL you can do.
