The Dead Kings expansion for Assassin's Creed Unity, which is set after the events of the main game and will be free for all players, will be released on January 13, Ubisoft announced today.
Here's how Ubisoft sets up the story for Dead Kings:
"After the events of Assassin's Creed Unity, Arno leaves Paris for Saint Denis, a mysterious city that holds the crypts of deceased French kings. Sent on a mission to the extensive underground of the Basilica, Arno will face a faction of new foes, the Raiders, populating its catacombs. Equipped with a lantern and a new powerful weapon, the Guillotine gun, Arno will have to navigate the dangerous passageways to uncover the darkest secrets of the city."
Dead Kings features a "fully fledged" single-player campaign, as well as new open-world activities and side missions. These are new murder mysteries, enigmas, and cooperative missions. Players can also unlock new weapons, gear, and outfits that can be used in the main Unity game and the Dead Kings expansion.
The Dead Kings expansion was originally going to be part of the Unity DLC pass for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. However, Ubisoft announced in November that Dead Kings would become a free download for all players in a bid to make up for Unity's troubled launch.
The Unity DLC pass has since been removed from sale. If you bought it before it was pulled, you're entitled to a free game of your choosing--and the list is full of great games.
