Assassin's Creed: Revelations DLC begins Dec. 13

Ubisoft launching first add-on for murderous action adventure next month with $4 multiplayer Ancestors Character Pack; PC version dated for Nov. 28.

Anyone who has followed Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise knows that today's release of Revelations is just the start of new content for the game. True to form, Ubisoft today detailed downloadable content on the way for Assassin's Creed: Revelations, with the first batch due out next month.

Assassin's Creed's upcoming cast of characters.
Assassin's Creed's upcoming cast of characters.

The Ancestors Character Pack leads the add-on content, and it will be available December 13 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game for $3.99 (320 Microsoft points). The pack augments the game's multiplayer mode with new playable characters: the Privateer, the Corsair, the Brigand, and the Gladiator.

Ubisoft also indicated that a second DLC pack is planned. However, details on that release have yet to be revealed.

The publisher also provided an update on the PC release of Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Initially pegged for a tandem release with the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions of the game, the PC version will now be available on November 28.

Revelations will follow the story of Ezio, who was first introduced in Assassin's Creed II. This time out, Ezio will seek out the haunts of original Assassin's Creed protagonist Altair, visiting such Middle East strongholds as the Ottoman Empire's Constantinople. There, Ezio will once again take up arms against the Templar order.

'Nintendo announced that they will RELUCTANTLY allow 3rd party devs to release pay DLC on the e-shop' And things like this show where the reluctancy came from. Seriously, if everyone would just stop paying for dlc it'd be fine, but we all no that the purchases will never end, thus making the 30 seconds spent typing this pointless.

Your going to kill the series Ubisoft. Its funny Saints Row 3 comes out and they offer a free SR2 download thru PSN (just annouced today). Rockstar releases a Free DLC for red dead to thank its customers but Ubisoft does this. Its easy to see the companies that love and support their customers and the ones that try to cash grab and screw over thier fan base (Ubisoft/ Capcom).

This isn't even funny anymore. When DLC gets announced pretty much right when the game is released, you know the devs are being super lazy and are trying to make some coin. This is ridiculous, they're expecting us to buy things that should be included in the actual game itself. And then they just bundle the DLC with the game, call it a GOTY or "Special" edition or what have you, and sell the same exact game all over again. Seriously, there's a limit. (For the record I enjoy GOTY's sometimes, but when they expect us to pay for things like this, it irks me.)

pointless DLC, I despise the fact it's being released so soon after game release it just feels like a kick in the teeth to the people who are loyal to the franchise and buy the game straight away

I bought this game new so I didn't suffer, but if you don't you have to BUY multiplayer. That's right, if you buy second hand multiplayer is NOT included. When does this end? When you have to pay a quarter to the developer every time you die for a respawn? Is that where we're headed? Good God, they keep upping the ante.

@pszone it's not that people don't like dlc, people just don't like it when producers anounce dlc so shortly after the game's release because it's content that could have been in the release game to begin with, meaning beside the 60$ price of the game your going to have to give an extra 5 or 10$ for content that could have been there to begin with. In my opinion companies feel like they can get away with this kind of thing and thats why they keep doing it, which is just sad :(

As long as there are people willing to pay for this, this will be a thing they will exploit. Part of why we don't see reasonably priced well rounded content (such as expansion packs) is because nickel and diming us with withheld content or snippets of a fuller package is more profitable, mind you, this is a company that admitted they cut content from Assassin's Creed II just to repackage it as DLC.

Great, more stuff left out of the launch game. This will now move to my buy GOTY edition at a later date - if at all now. This is really getting crazy.

Checking the official press release confirms it: "Each character is personalized with unique taunts, weapons and stylized assassination moves." They're characters. Like the article says.

@MrMisanthrope... These are skins. They don't have different moves or attacks. If they all do the same thing, they're skins, regardless of how they walk or run. If they each have separate attacks and weapons, they're characters.

@gamespot Change the release date for PC version - it is still displayed 15 NOV. Regarding the DLC... if only 5% of the people that buy the game will also buy the DLC, ubisoft will be happy.

While I won't be getting the DLC, I don't have a problem with them releasing some additional MP characters. What a lot of people don't realize is that DLC that comes out soon after release (and I'm not talking about on the disc DLC) doesn't start development until after the game has gone gold, and thus they can't put it in directly. As far as not being free, it's not as if Ubisoft hasn't provided free MP updates in the past (2.0 update in Brotherhood). It would be nice if this was free, but it's not that big of a deal.

Why do people keep calling these "skins?" A skin is just a visual change: these are actual characters with new animations and all that.

I don't understand why anyone would pay 4 bucks for a DLC that doesn't add any real gameplay value?? Witcher 2 had a couple of these, but they were FREE!! As a matter of fact all the DLC for that game were free!! I'm not saying companies don't have a right to charge for DLC, but they must respect their customers, while doing so.

Stuff like this did not come as free patches out of the bottom of developer's hearts a generation ago as a standard--it didn't come out at all on consoles, and only a couple of devs did that on PC(notably the now DLC obsessed Epic). That said, although I love AC games, I have no intention of buying this DLC. I don't like the DLC model and avoid supporting it whenever possible, especially for overpriced multiplayer stuff that doesn't even add anything substantial like maps or skins.

They should take the PC version and ship it with this new DLC included as a """gift"""" to the PC players for the delays and stuff. That'd be good publicity and good for players.

PC version November 28th? I thought it was coming out in early December, great news,Im a big fan of AC franchise, and I can't wait to play it. As for DLC,not interested, for me,the MP in AC is just an unnecessary gimmick,so no point in getting it.Also I hope they won't make any SP DLC,I want my SP games fully made right out of the box...

I love AC franchise, but such DLC packs are nothing but ridiculous attempts at milking the fans. How about a new dungeon or new story sequence, Ubisoft? You have open world - use it.
