With both teams sporting new rosters, each organisation had a lot to prove. Ultimately, it would be the European Alternate who would come out ahead.

Both teams were eager to sport their new rosters, CLG who played at IEM Cologne in November have already added a new member since their travel to Germany, replacing Brian 'TrickZ' Ahn with the former Lemondogs jungler Marcel 'Dexter' Feldkamp in an attempt to bolster the team going in to the next Spring Split. Meanwhile, Alternate had experienced a change of clothes as well after they had replaced their midlaner Carl 'Forellenlord' Lückmann with their toplaner Adrian 'Kerp' Wetekam as longtime SK toplaner Kevin 'Kev1n' Rubiszewski was recruited to the Alternate toplane after a brief stay with NiP.
The first game started out looking bright for the new aTn roster as they made short work of CLG in the game's early stages. But the later the game went, the more of a force Peter 'Doublelift' Peng's Jinx and all of CLG actually became. Engagements would sway in both team's favor and rushes down the midlane from either team became a regularity. Eventually after trading inhibitors in a game that was approaching an hour in length, aTn found their opporunity and stormed CLG's base and claimed the first game.
Game two started on more even footing, as CLG were quick to draw first blood and posture themselves well for the midgame. Engagements between the two were even until the Kerp show started. Being placed on an apparent favorite champion in Syndra, he beasted his way through whatever CLG threw at him and his aTn crew. Kev1n's immortal Dr. Mundo was also a staple of the team's success as he shredded through CLG in the teamfights, who eventually conceeded.
