AU Shippin' Out June 9-12: Prototype

While last week's E3 saw some big games showcased, this week's releases look to be fairly quiet, with just a handful of games hitting stores around Australia.

The game that will probably capture the most eyeballs this week is Prototype. Like with last week's Infamous, Radical Entertainment has cooked up a feast of open-world action for players. The game is set in New York, and you play as Alex Mercer, a man who wakes up after a massive terrorist attack with the ability to change his genetic code. Just a few of the abilities he’ll have include shape-shifting and memory absorbing, which becomes a pretty big mechanic in driving the story. Prototype is due out on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC in Australia tomorrow.

The only other game to be coming out this week is EA's Grand Slam Tennis for the Wii. As you'd expect from a modern sports title, there are plenty of licensed tennis stars to play as, and the game features the iconic Wimbledon stadium in London to play in. If the game doesn’t go your way, you'll even be able to slam your racket onto the turf like John McEnroe. As for online play, you can expect the stock-standard competitive multiplayer mode via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Grand Slam Tennis comes out later this week and will be compatible with the Wii MotionPlus.

The final thing to come out this week is not strictly a game, but it's still worth a mention: the Wii MotionPlus accessory. Announced last year, MotionPlus will allow Wii games to better track the movement of players, and the add-on even allows for 1:1 tracking. At this stage only a handful of games support it, but as time goes on, you can bet that developers will start to incorporate it into all their games. Wii MotionPlus is all yours for A$29.95 when it comes out on June 11.
