Avenged Sevenfold's "Badass" Video Game Out Now, Promises No Hand-Holding Or Fluff

American metal band Avenged Sevenfold made a video game and you can play it right now. The game, Hail to the King: Deathbat, is available today for iOS and Android for $5.

The game has been in development for over two years, Avenged Sevenfold singer M. Shadows--a longtime gamer who oversaw production on the title--said in a statement. The game was principally developed by Subscience Studios.

Why would Avenged Sevenfold make a video game? Shadows says after watching members of the band play mobile games while out on tour, they decided to make their own.

"A game for our fans who love games as well. We decided to create this adventure with a nod to our favorite games growing up," Shadows said. "No hand-holding here, no fluff, just a hard, badass game that lets you discover the story of the Deathbat."

Deathbat features, appropriately, seven "hellish landscapes" to explore inspired by the band's discography and artwork. The game also features classic Avenged Sevenfold tracks ("Unholy Confessions is used in the trailer above) as well as an original score, which was composed by the band and is said to be inspired by games like Castlevania.

Concerning story, Deathbat will tell an "epic" tale that follows Deathbat, a "resurrected king of the underworld" who must "reclaim the lands of Haides from the despotic Dark Andronikos." Deathbat promises a "massive" scope with hours of "robust" gameplay.
