Avowed Delayed To February 2025, Graciously Making 2024 A Little Less Crowded

We have so many big AAA games scheduled for the final months of 2024.

Xbox has graciously alleviated some of the mounting pressure as we head into the final months of 2024, delaying Avowed until early next year. Avowed is now set to launch on February 18, 2025.

Though it's a shame that we'll have to wait a bit longer to play Obsidian Entertainment's action RPG, this does mean the already crowded fall line-up of games is a tad more manageable and easier on the wallet. Instead of Avowed competing against the likes of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and Assassin's Creed Shadows this holiday season, it will launch during the (currently) sparser start of 2025.

In the announcement of the delay, Xbox teased that more details for games across the company's portfolio--including Activision, Blizzard, and Bethesda titles--will be revealed during gamescom. Avowed will also be the primary focus of Xbox's planned livestream for August 23, when we'll see more of the upcoming action RPG.

So far, Avowed is looking a whole lot like Obsidian's The Outer Worlds, albeit far more fantastical than sci-fi. The game can be played in either first- or third-person, features recruitable NPCs and choice-driven dialogue, and incorporates melee weapons, firearms, and magic in its combat. The game is set to launch for Xbox Series X|S and PC.

so many games coming? There's like 9 games coming in November and nothing big scheduled for December. Just be honest. Are there technical issues with the game that need to be ironed out?

I was rooting for this game but pushing back their launch so they don’t need to compete with other games is a huge red flag

damn I forgot this trash existed since outer world trash :DDD

well "AAA" means nothing as when some random indie game on steam has way more quality and quantity over these so called AAA games :DDD

since witcher 3 honestly I cannot name a decent AAA game released since this past 10 years. Imma keep playing PlayStation 2 mate *plays Radiata Stories* :DDD

I'll review my current backlog of Xbox Studios games.

So, I've finished Hellblade 2, which leaves me with...

Oh, right, nothing!

That's all Microsoft has released since Starfield.

While the competition will offer COD along with a slew of exclusive AA and AAA titles, we Xbox users are left with just COD, as it seems to define the Xbox experience.

Here's a simple idea to get customers: respect them.

@petebonion: now wait a min, xbox has such great original exclusives such as..... well they don't have any. granted playstation doesn't have much this year yet, but at least they HAVE exclusives. Xbox only has what it can swallow up and ruin. and over beaten to death exclusives from 15 years ago lol.

@petebonion: "A slew of exclusives". From what I can see the competition has 3 exclusive for the rest of the year while Xbox has 11. Obviously not every game is gonna be for you but numbers vs numbers don't lie.
