Atari announced today that Axis & Allies has gone gold and is on schedule to wage war on retail stores starting November 2. Based on the classic board game of the same name, the PC title portrays some of WWII’s most famous battles in real-time strategy format.

Atari also announced today exclusive downloadable content for customers who preorder their copies of Axis & Allies from GameStop or Electronics Boutique. Consumers who preorder from GameStop will be able to download a bonus scenario depicting the 1940 German capture of Dunkirk, while preorders from Electronics Boutique will provide access to a scenario that re-creates the 1941 German invasion of Russia.

Axis & Allies allows players to command the armies of Japan, England, Germany, Russia, and France in an attempt to either re-create history or alter the outcome of the war. The game will feature air, land, and sea units, a single-player campaign, and online play. Axis & Allies will carry an MSRP of $49.99 and a rating of "T" for Teen.
