Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access System Requirements Revealed
Baldur's Gate III has some modest hardware recommendations now that it's available on PC and Mac.
Baldur's Gate III is now available in Steam early access for PC and Stadia (and Mac, as a last-minute surprise), but in advance of the launch, we received the official PC requirements.
There's no indication of what level of performance developer Larian Studios is targeting with the minimum or recommended requirements, but you can still get a sense for what kind of hardware you'll need. Larian also detailed how the minimum requirements might decrease over the course of early access as improvements are made. At some point since the system requirements were first revealed, the storage needs for the game changed from 70GB to 150GB, which is more than double the original number.
You can read the PC requirements from the official Steam page, below:
Baldur's Gate 3 minimum PC requirements
- CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 / AMD RX 4350
- RAM: 8GB
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 / AMD Radeon R9 280X
- DirectX: 11
- Storage: 150GB
- OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
Baldur's Gate 3 recommended PC requirements
- CPU: Intel Core i7-4700K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
- RAM: 16GB
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB) / AMD Radeon RX 580
- DirectX: 11
- Storage: 150GB
- OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
You won't need bleeding-edge gear to run Baldur's Gate III going by those requirements, as the need for a GeForce GTX 1060 or a Radeon RX 580 leans more towards the older side of PC hardware. The only requirements that could demand a slight upgrade from players, is the need for a 64-bit version of Windows 10 and a hard drive with enough space to house the narrative-heavy game, which currently has 45,980 lines of dialogue in the Early Access build as compared to the 17,600 instances of speech in the early access version of Larian's previous game, Divinity: Original Sin II.
The Panel from Hell livestream in August offered had more details to share on Baldur's Gate III, such as the five "Origin" characters that players will get to choose from, customization options, and the enormous experience awaiting adventurers.
