The Baldur's Gate 3 Minthara romance comes out of left field. This is mostly because of the decisions that you need to make, which will alienate and displease your other companions. Still, this is your only shot if you want to cozy up with this Drow Paladin. Our guide discusses how you can side with and eventually romance Minthara during the campaign.

How to Romance Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3

Minthara Romance Requirements and Consequences

The Baldur's Gate 3 Minthara romance has a few notable requirements:

  • Make sure you side with Minthara and you agree to her plan.
  • Defeat the Tieflings and Druids.
  • Agree to sleep with Minthara in your camp.

This is quite different from the usual playthrough, whereupon you're likely to side with the Tieflings and Druids, given that the Goblins are the baddies. Still, you'll have to follow a specific path if you want to romance Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3. Bear in mind that this path isn't liked by your companions, and there are consequences down the road:

  • Gale and Shadowheart will disapprove of your actions.
  • Halsin won't join you later on.
  • Wyll and Karlach leave your party.

Goblin Camp/Shattered Sanctum: Minthara's Plan

To find Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3, you'll want to cross the stone bridge west of the Druid Grove. From there, go past the Blighted Village to reach the Goblin Camp. There are large double doors at the fort, which take you to the Shattered Sanctum where Minthara awaits. Due to numerous hostiles, we suggest using various skill/ability checks during dialogue sequences so you can avoid battles. Alternatively, you can choose Illithid Wisdom, too.

Once you're inside the Shattered Sanctum, go to the northeast. The route to Minthara requires you to climb up the ladder in front of the Worg Pens doorway. There are various replies here, including Deception and Intelligence checks. The important thing is to avoid saying that you're hunting for her/you're planning to kill her. Eventually, you'll be able to mark down the location of the Druid Grove, and she'll begin preparations for the raid.

Note that the aforementioned door leads to the Worg Pens. It's where you can rescue the Druid Halsin. However, if you ask Halsin to accompany you, all the Goblins and their leaders will automatically become hostile. As such, you should either avoid Halsin completely, or you can tell him that he's on his own.

Druid Grove: Defeat the Tieflings and Druids

Once you're ready, do a long rest and head to the entrance of the Druid Grove. After the cutscene, to go the top of the gate and talk to Zevlor. Here's what happens next:

  • Zevlor will still be convinced that you're on the side of the good people and refugees.
  • Blow the war horn to make Minthara's army appear.
  • Two options will pop up:
    • Option #1: Obey and open the gate - You'll go through with Minthara's plan.
    • Option #2: This grove is under my protection - You'll still side with the Tieflings and Druids.

The Baldur's Gate 3 Minthara romance requires that you go along with Minthara's raid (i.e., Option #1). That leads to the following encounters:

  • Entrance Gate - You'll fight Zevlor and other Tiefling soldiers here. Since you're standing atop a vantage point, you can use Shove or Thunderwave to push your foes to their doom.
  • Secluded Chamber - Continue inside the camp until you reach a stone door. Open it to battle half a dozen NPCs. They've got fairly low health, so you shouldn't worry too much.
  • Grove - Finally, it's time to take out the Druids. You'll have to eliminate Nettie, Rath, and Kagha.
Thunderwave will easily push opponents to their doom.

Love Scene: Doing the Deed with the Drow

With the Tieflings and Druids gone, return to the Secluded Chamber and talk to Minthara. She's happy with the result, and she tells you to meet her in your camp. Open the world map and select your camp so you can talk to her. Note that this section is similar to how you've romanced other companions like Shadowheart and Astarion (during early access). The difference, of course, is that you've sided with Minthara and the Goblins.

In any case, these are the required dialogue options for the Baldur's Gate 3 Minthara romance:

  • "Yes, I'm yours, Minthara."
  • Click on your bedroll and pick Minthara.
  • "Do as she says."
  • "I want you."
  • This leads to a sex scene.
Give in to Minthara's seduction once you sleep in your camp.

Other Interactions with Minthara

After your character and Minthara are done with the deed, there's an option to "focus on her desire" or "push deeper into her fears" (Wisdom 15). Afterward, she'll attempt to stab you while you're sleeping. You can choose to attack her to make her hostile, which leads to her death. As such, it's better to pick Intimidation 15 to make her back down. Moreover, those who picked the Dark Urge origin have the option to snap her neck to kill her instantly.

In any case, choosing to intimidate her causes her to divulge the next step in the main quest, which would lead you to the Underdark and Moonrise Towers. We also know that she can be recruited later in Act 2, though we've yet to see that particular arc in a separate run.

And that's all you need to know about how to romance Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3. Ultimately, it's your call if you think having her in your squad is worth losing several companions (i.e. Wyll, Karlach, and Halsin) in exchange.

Baldur's Gate 3 is filled to the brim with activities and secrets. You'll no doubt be part of an adventure that can take countless hours to complete. For other tips, you can visit our BG3 guides hub.
