Banjo-Tooie First Impressions
Rare's lovable bear is back is a brand new adventure, except this time Banjo and Kazooie will be able to separate in the game after a certain point.
New information on Banjo-Tooie gleaned from the show floor includes:
Banjo and Kazooie will be able to separate in the game after a certain point. Banjo will then gain new abilities such as being able to dump enemies into his now empty backpack and swim underwater longer using air in his pack. Kazooie will then be able to fly much better than before, not having to drag around Banjo's weight. Beyond all the duo's old abilities, the two will also have a number of new moves. In one we observed, Banjo pulled Kazooie out of his backpack, held him like a shotgun, and the perspective then went into a first-person mode.
As in Rare's Jet Force Gemini, new multiplayer modes will open up in the game once areas have been reached in the single-player mode. These include a soccer game, a first-person deathmatch, and a racing game.
Nintendo's Ken Lobb explained that the title will be much larger than the first title although the warp zones should make navigating the world much easier. For instance, entering a warp zone is said to provide you with a list of all the warp zones you've entered up to that point, allowing you to choose where you want to go.
Also worthy of note is that while the version of the game displayed on the show floor does utilize the RAM Pak, the final version will not.
