Battlefield 1 Winter Update Launches Next Week
A recent test server patch included map voting and the return of ribbons.
What sounds like a potentially big update for Battlefield 1 is slated to launch in just a few days, EA and DICE have announced.
"Stay tuned. The Winter update is coming," reads a tweet sent out by the Battlefield account today, accompanied by an image that indicates it will arrive "next week."

This isn't tied directly to the game's first expansion, They Shall Not Pass, which launches sometime in March. Unfortunately, there weren't any details confirmed regarding what the update does consist of, though we do have some idea of what to expect.
DICE recently launched public test servers for Battlefield 1, and the changes seen there may be what ends up in this Winter update. Those include the return of ribbons (which grant experience for reaching certain milestones during a match), an increase to the maximum class rank to 50, and the ability to vote for the next map at the end of a game.
Full patch notes for the first Community Test Environment patch can be seen here. For comparison, Battlefield 1's Fall update was a substantial one.
