Electronic Arts is giving Xbox One owners the chance to play the full version of Battlefield Hardline days before its official release date, the publisher has confirmed.

Those who subscribe to EA Access, a $5/month subscription service that offers benefits such as discounts and free games, will be able to trial the Visceral Games-developed shooter at no cost, with no commitment, days before its March 17 released date.

Specific details of the early access process have yet to be announced, but the official Battlefield Hardline Twitter account confirmed the offer would soon be made to EA Access subscribers. "Yes, you will be able to get early access to Battlefield Hardline through EA Access," the account wrote.

If the previous offer of early access to FIFA 15 is any indication, players should expect to sample Battlefield Hardline one week ahead of release and, should they go on to purchase the full game, their save details could potentially be carried over. These benefits are not yet guaranteed, however, until EA formally announces the offer.

Battlefield Hardline goes on general release from March 17in North America on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game will arrive in the UK three days later.

EA Access is a new $5/month games subscription service that, as well as granting users with early admission to its major releases, also features a growing list of games to play for free.

Free games on EA Access include Battlefield 4, Madden NFL 25, and Peggle 2. Customers have unlimited ownership of these titles for as long as their membership lasts.

Electronic Arts originally wanted the service to appear on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but Sony rejected the membership deal.

Not sure why this is news, getting games ahead of time was one of the selling points for the EA access.

Good. Beta test that pathetic game. X bone fans. No interest in what is basically DLC being sold as a full game.

@martyr77 your comment is not very cohesive. You say you have no interest in this game, yet to still click on this article. You then go onto say that this is good because "xbone fans" can "beta test that pathetic game,"despite the fact that you don't intend to purchase or play the game.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Yes because a "beta" is something which comes out a few days before global release... Yet again your lack of knowledge never ceases to amaze me...

If Battlefield 3 and 4 were any indication, beta testing is actually something that happens for the first month after the game is released.

Privileging one group craps on the face of every other group, why do people still give exclusives to Microgay. Yet another game for me to boycott and it's probably trash anyway or they would not have sold out.

<< LINK REMOVED >> boycott a game because EA is trying to push it's streaming service? Sony had a chance but thought PS NOW was a better value for it's customers, and that $5 a month was too much money for sony fans to spend...they made the choice for them. Either way, they're not really privileging one group over the other, just trying to show the benefits of EA Acess.

Try doing some research. This service was supposed to be released on the PS4 but Sony turned it down claiming it "wasn't a good value".

It's Sony's fault this service is only exclusive to Xbox, not Microsoft or EA.

One more way to kill physical copies of games, now release days in advance digitally then over time kill the physical copies all together when enough suckers buy it digitally ALONG with a subscription fee to boot. YOU NEVER CEASE TO FAIL E.A., money grab all the way.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Long term rental? I have receipt of purchase and can download it as many times as I want until EA sinks and when EA sinks your BFHL disc will mean just as much as my recipt of purchase....nothing because its an online only game (Even if it has a sp campaign who buys BF for that) and if EA went away so too would their servers for said game so your disc is as much a rental as any digital purchase buddy.

We have these "Game launchers" Now a days I don't know if your aware, it keeps track of your purchases and creates a game library for you, if you think services like Steam or Origin are going to go by the weigh side and not honor purchases made through their services your out of your mind. I still have my very first game purchase on steam from almost 8 years ago.... Thats one hell of a rental Mr logic.

How about people think about the more economical and environmental approach to it? Stop polluting the environment with your plastic waste from purchases that could otherwise have no waste While saving money!

Down with physical copies and pack rats who support it!

I´ll probably play the early access and when it gets free in less than a year for EA Access subscriber.

I´ll never have to buy another EA game!

EA Access is the best deal (compared to other gaming subscription services).

Steam sales are not subscription services, are they?

And aprox. 1 AAA game(all less than a year old on the day they were added)/month for 30$ a year is cheap, even by steam sale standards

Also, none of those games are available on Steam
