Battlestar Galactica writer working with God of War dev on new game

Michael Angeli says he has been writing for unannounced game for the past 2.5 years.

Battlestar Galactica and Monk writer Michael Angeli is working with God of War studio Sony Santa Monica on a brand-new game, the TV veteran said during a Comic-Con panel this week attended by Polygon.

Angeli said during the panel that this new project is not a God of War title, but would not give other details about the game because it has not yet been announced.

The writer told Polygon that he has been working on the game for 2.5 years so far and that after God of War: Ascension development wrapped, about 150 staffers moved to the new game.

Previous job listings at Sony Santa Monica suggest the company is working on a shooter with open-world and vehicle combat elements.

I love God of War 1-3... but I really have no real desire to ever play a new one. Is that weird? Maybe its because Ascension was just so damn uninspired it killed the franchise for me.

Anything new from Sony Santa Monica would be awesome. I haven't even felt compelled to finish Ascension. They need something new to show off their talent. I am excited if they can get something with a story like BSG that sucked me in each episode anxious to watch the next.

I'll just report what I said on GT site:

This could be promising, the fact that he's been working on it for 2 1/2 years suggest they didn't just hire him for some quick write up to score name appeal. In order for any video game story to be good it has to be developed from the start with the actual game design process. And has to develop and evolve right alongside the gameplay portion. You can't just write a script and be done.

Hence why no matter how many high profile writers COD hires every year the story always turns out to be shit. That's because they develop the levels first and then hire a writer sometime after to craft a story around the levels and set pieces.That does not work and will never work.

If Sony want to beat Xone and rule out nextgen in US then it needs such a generic FPS because most of US players priority is a game like Halo and a reason why X360 is the best seller in US and if Sony thinks that its JRPGs will be trending in the region then Sony will have to create another mega title like WoW which Sony unfortunately lacks too. Sony has an only option to win nextgen

@Pikdum Caprica was actually a good show. It was a more cerebral TV offering that took risks and dared to break from established formulas. Caprica's downfall was that many fans of BSG expected another space opera, and people who weren't already invested in the BSG universe lacked the mental fortitude to stick with an unusual show.

I appreciate what Caprica tried to do in an era of dumb and dumber television. Now, with the notable exception of Continuum, Sy-Fy is worse than ever. Axing Blood and Chrome out of the gate was Grade-A stupid. (But then, these are the same people that renewed the godawful Defiance after two episodes, so there you go.)

@Grenadeh@Sun-Tzu-GE@PikdumI thought the writing was very good.For me it was one of the shows which were so good that I couldn't understand why they canceled it.And I also don't understand why BSG fans were disappointed.It had everything that made BSG so great except for the space battles.But it had the same overall dark tone,dealing with morality,politics,religion.And it had a lot of memorable moments.

@Grenadeh I'm referring to BSG and how after 4 seasons of the main character does some very un-characteristic things that without giving spoilers made the show seem very randomly put together with little to no direction in it plus the writers really underestimated the intelligence of viewers which I found out in interviews after the show finished.
