Del Toro won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Traffic and was nominated for the same award for 21 Grams, though he did not win. He is also known for his roles in The Usual Suspects, while some of his recent films included Guardians of the Galaxy and Sicario. Del Toro is rumored to be playing a villain in Episode VIII, though this is not confirmed.
The new Predator movie, which is called The Predator, is set to be released on March 2, 2018. It's directed by Shane Black (Iron Man 3, The Nice Guys), who had a part in the 1987 original. He was the first to be killed by the Predator in that movie.
Del Toro is the first actor connected to The Predator. In May, Black talked talked about casting The Predator "very carefully."
"We'll get a group of people against the monster that I think you're gonna enjoy spending time with," he said.
Black went on to explain that finding the right balance between the story's different elements would be key to its success. "I think the tone shifting is important," he said. "This one is going to be very scary if I get it right, and hopefully also there'll be some humor in it. The first one had humor in it, so you really got engaged with this group of guys."
