Beyonce Eyed To Voice Nala In The Lion King Remake - Report

More casting details about Disney's Lion King remake have come to light. Sources speaking to Variety said that singer Beyonce is the top choice of director Jon Favreau to voice Nala.

The "Single Ladies" singer has not yet committed to the role, sources said. Beyonce is pregnant with twins, which could limit her availability, the report said.

"But since it’s a voice-acting role, sources say the studio and director will do whatever it takes to accommodate her schedule," Variety reported.

Beyonce would be the latest to join the remake. We already know that Donald Glover will voice Simba, while James Earl Jones reprises his role as Mufasa. There is no word yet on who would voice Scar or the other animal characters, including Timon and Pumba.

Beyonce is no stranger to Hollywood, of course. She voiced a character in the animated movie Epic and also starred alongside Mike Myers in the comedy Austin Powers in Goldmember.

In September 2016, when Favreau was announced as the director of the new Lion King, Disney said it was fast-tracking the film, though no premiere date has been announced yet.

The new Lion King has big shoes to fill, as the original made more than $968 million at the box office and won multiple Academy Awards, in addition to a pair of Grammy Awards for its soundtrack.

Disney and Favreau are also working on The Jungle Book 2, after last year's entry made $965.8 million worldwide. There are no release dates announced for The Lion King or The Jungle Book 2.
