Beyond: Two Souls lets players use iOS and Android devices as controllers

iOS and Android owners will be able to use their touchscreen devices instead of a DualShock controller to play Beyond: Two Souls, game director David Cage confirmed today at Gamescom.

A PlayStation Vita version of the app is not currently planned.

The Beyond Touch app--which will be available for free at the game's launch in October--lets players control heroine Jodie Holmes and spiritual entity Aiden by dragging their finger across a phone or tablet's touchscreen.

A two-player turn-based co-op mode was also announced alongside the app, which lets a friend take control of Aiden at any point during the game. Aiden can be used to solve simple puzzles such as unlocking doors for Jodie, as well as more complex conundrums later in the game.

Any combination of touchscreen device and Dual Shock controller can be used for co-op play.
