Kids all the way up to adults spend a ton of time commuting to and from school and work. they have zero time to sit down at a console. cant really do homework on a subway either. could you imagine having your math homework spread across 3 laps. The AVERAGE Tokyoite spends 2 hours a day!!!! sitting on a subway. If it wasn't for the tokyo subway, we probably would not even have the original gameboy.

The really sad thing is they get a GREAT made in USA game and it is riddle with bugs. I am talking about Vegas. The west needs to win over Japan, because they still think Japanese games are way better and American games are doo doo. When in reality its the other way around, but then they actully buy an American made game and it looks like we haven't even learned how to program or test our games before we launch them. the sadder thing yet. Vegas is using a game engine that was used for Oblivion and Fallout 3. You would think by the 3rd time they would have less bugs not more. I am glad a patch is coming out.

PSP is doing good, but the DS is still selling more, combine the sales of each and the DS sales more: PSP + PSP Go = 37,456 DSi LL + DSi + DS Lite = 41,662 i just thougth i mentioned it in case someone didnt realize it

Doesn't surprise me that the PSP is doing so good in Japan, considering their days are rather stressful and for the most part they are only at home in the late evenings and nights. Added with the fact that most use public transportation and that this is where they get a chance to stress down a little, then I would Imagine picking up the PSP from their backpack, pockets or breifcase and play while enroute to their destination is fairly common. I am surprised to see Fallout New Vegas doing so well in Japan though, it's a positive thing of course as usually western games aren't exactly entirely welcomed with open arms.

Nice to see the PSP doing well. It's a great console, easily one of the best handhelds made. The Go is doing too well for my tastes though, even one sale of that thing is one too many. Also surprised to see that Japan like Fallout.

Man Japan loves their PSPs. I used to have one then lost it. The worst part of that is that is that I had games I never got to play. I have been itching to play Half minute hero since I lost it. I wonder how much they go for used right now...

psp go sold more than 360 and DS lite. did they invent a psp go kevin butler for japan?

I have to admit that's rather impressive numbers for both PSP and PS3, and I'm not talking sales numbers...i mean the 1 + 2. Besides, how many people besides me don't already own a Nintendo handheld? The numbers were guaranteed to fall eventually.

Wii deserves to be outsold, it needs a price cut everywhere. Nintendo is so greedy this generation, more than Kotick of Activision. That's very low for a prestigious company

Can't help but laugh at people that make themselves look bad like that. @EasyNormalHard: Sales in Japan, where most games are released first, are a pretty good indicator as to how games will sale stateside, or in Europe. Games that are popular there are also more likely to be translated and released in the US. For people that are genuinely interested in the gaming industry this article is actually relevant.

Cool, Fallout: New Vegas in infinitely better than just about any RPG Japan has produced in the last 3-4 years. Maybe they will finally start making good RPGs soon. It also reminds me, i need to stop playing fallout 3 and upgrade to New Vegas.

I've played the demo for God Eater Burst it does feel alot like Monster Hunter. Can't wait for the English release when ever it is.

@mariomaster16 Impressive because it is an American FPS selling well in Japan and impressive because the combined PS3/360 sales of 61,000 would make it number 2 after God Eater's 61,834. Japanese generally hate FPS but if it's also an RPG it seems they'll take it.

bahahaha, does anyone else see the irony? God Eater burst is still number one, selling over 250,000 copies in one week, but what's more impressive is New Vegas sold 37,000 on one system and 24,000 on the other; making a grand total of 61,000 copies, less than a fourth of how many Bust sold. How is selling less than a fourth "impressive?" (Not bashing New Vegas, just laughing at poor word choice.) In other new, why is it the extended version has already come out over there, and we haven't even gotten the original here in the states? Come on Namco, hurry it up will ya?

the 360 version of new vegas should of sold so many that its number one on the list...the ps3 version is lame and all the other games suck.

the wii's sales are really falling away huh? it's amazing that the ps3 is selling almost double the wii. i think it's a case of most families who can afford the wii have already got one...

Looks like New Vegas helped move some units for the 360, but I'm shocked that PspGo isn't dead last like it usually is. This must be prove that the world will end in 2012.
