BioWare's Anthem Has No Romance Options, Limited Dialogue Choices
"The romantic stuff, we're moving away from that for Anthem."
Anthem will not include romance options, BioWare has confirmed. Producer Mike Gamble told Game Informer directly that "there are no romances." Players can still forge friendships, but as for the romances? "The romantic stuff, we're moving away from that for Anthem," Gamble said.
This news is a bit of a bummer for fans of BioWare games, which are known for their romance options. At the same time, however, Anthem appears to be a very different game for BioWare. It is an always-online, shooting focused co-op game with exosuits.
Romances aren't the only area where Anthem will differ from past BioWare games. Dialogue options are also being scaled back compared to previous titles. Producer Mark Darrah told GameSpot at E3 2018 that Anthem will offer simpler dialogue options during the Fort Tarsis single-player portion. It's unclear, however, if there will be any dialogue options or branching story in the multiplayer shared-world.
