How to open the Shelter Time Lock Safe in Blue Prince

The Shelter Time Lock Safe, as the term implies, only opens at a specific day and hour. Before we get to that, though, let's talk about how you can gain access to the Shelter itself.

How to unlock the Shelter room

Since the Shelter in Blue Prince is an outer room, you must first gain permanent access to the West Gate Path. This is done by unlocking the Garage Door and removing the latch from the gate.

Also, outer rooms have a limited but still random selection pool. You might need to play multiple runs until the Shelter appears as an option.

How to activate the Time Lock Safe

To open the Shelter Time Lock Safe in Blue Prince, you have to interact with the terminal so you can input the correct date and time for your run. Here are the most important tidbits for the day:

• Day 1, the very beginning of the campaign, is November 7.
• Open your inventory/map and check the right-hand side of the screen to know which day it is in your playthrough.
• Count the number of days starting from November 7 until present.
• For example, Day 22 = November 28.

As for the specific time, take note that you always start each run at 8:00 a.m. Roughly five minutes in real-time is equivalent to an hour in-game. As such, we recommend setting the time to 10:00 a.m. If you're not sure of the time, you can go to the Grounds and look at the large clock at the front of the manor.

One more caveat about the date

Does this mean you need to wait around 10 minutes or so? Well, technically... it's just a rough estimate, after all. But there's also an important caveat: The Time Lock Safe works as long as whatever you set is at least one hour ahead of the current time in-game.

Because you start at 8:00 a.m., we felt that it was too risky to set the time to 9:00 a.m. on the same day. 10:00 a.m. was the most feasible option when we completed this part, and it worked for us.

So, long story short: Just use the terminal in the Shelter. Set it to the correct day based on what you see in your inventory, and the time should be 10:00 a.m. Then, go listen to a podcast or watch cat videos on your phone while you wait. The Blue Prince Time Lock Safe should open right in front of you eventually.
