Brink teeters to May 10
Bethesda pushes up release date for Splash Damage-developed postapocalyptic shooter by a week; Euro release coming May 13.
When on the brink, sometimes things fall just a bit early. Such is the case for Splash Damage's new intellectual property Brink, as Bethesda Softworks announced today that the game's release has been pushed up to May 10 in North America, a week earlier than its previously scheduled May 17 launch. In Europe, Brink will now be available on May 13. The game will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

According to Bethesda, the game is being released early due to its sooner-than-expected completion. Brink is Splash Damage's second game, following on from its well-regarded debut Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, from 2007. Splash Damage was also behind the free download Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, a multiplayer mode released by id Software after the single-player version of the game was canceled.
Brink takes place in the year 2035 in a floating city called The Ark following the Earth's near-total destruction. Two warring factions, the Security and the Resistance, are going head-to-head for control of the city. After choosing sides in the fight, players will have to pick from a variety of classes (engineer, medic, and so on) and complete specific mission objectives related to those roles.
The game will also place an emphasis on parkour-style movement through its dynamically changing maps, as well as character customization options. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
