Broken Age Act 2 is now set to release in early 2015, developer Double Fine has announced.

Double Fine also said it's now able to playtest the game from beginning to end, which is taking testers 8-12 hours to complete.

"The goal now is to get all the finale work done so we can hit Alpha on all of Act 2 by the end of the year. That means, as you may have guessed based on recent updates and documentary episodes, the Act 2 ship that will deliver the complete adventure is now looking like it will be early next year."

Broken Age made a lot of headlines in 2012 with its extremely successful Kickstarter campaign, surpassing its initial goal of $400,000 with a total of $3.3 million from 87,142 backers.

GameSpot's review of Broken Age Act 1 gave the game a 7/10 for its terrific voice acting and writing.

Earlier this month, Double Fine announced that it had to cancel an unannounced project and layoff 12 of its employees after a deal with an unnamed publisher fell through.

Crowdfunding project: I will act happy that this game exists in 2020 if I get a million dollars.

I am just waiting for the season to be complete so I can play the entire game in one go, I love Tim Schafer adventure games. I was bummed he went with a newer look. But I'm happy now because Ron Gilbert & Gary Winnick got the look right on the mark with Thimbleweed Park.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Its an Indie game from what I know. As it came to other platforms first, the Indie Parity Clause that MS has in place may prevent it from ever coming to the XB1.

So anyone who played this game... how is it...? I love the style of it but I've heard it's quite short and VERY simplistic so I figured I should wait until it's entirely released.

<< LINK REMOVED >> many people have nostalgia of old-school adventure games, but they forgot how frustrating it was to be flooded with items and spend hours navigating and loading screens cluelessly. (good) recent adventure games focus on narrative and pacing, and that's a good thing.

<< LINK REMOVED >> It was fantastic. The "simplistic" arguments are stupid and churlish. Great writing, voice acting etc. It's just a fun and charming game.

I thought Telltale is the only publisher that is always late at releasing new game episodes -,- not a nice record for an episodic adventure game anyway. as i remember, the first act was too short and the gap between these two is almost a year! i almost forgot what this game was all about!

<< LINK REMOVED >> Not really stating this in their defense, but their original intention was to release the game in a single go rather than episodically. It was only as they neared completion of what became the first act of the game that they realized they had insufficient funding to proceed - so they elected to begin selling the first half right there, and provide the second half as a free update later (using the funds from the sales to continue development).

<< LINK REMOVED >> Yea I'm not a fan of episodic releases either, I just need to restrain myself from buying until the whole thing is released or else my enthusiasm just kind of fizzles out by the time they're playable. The Wolf Among Us was one of my favorite games of last year but I still haven't finished the last episode or half of episode 4 just because of the timing of their releases and I've kind of lost my place in the story...
