Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 Is Not Coming To Xbox One Backwards Compatibility This Week

"Not true," Phil Spencer says.

Call of Duty fans hoping to see Black Ops II added to the Xbox One's backwards compatibility catalog this week are out of luck. Responding to a fan's question, Microsoft's Phil Spencer said on Twitter that rumors of the game joining the lineup this week are "not true." Someone else asked if Black Ops II might be added this month, but Spencer said he can't share that kind of information ahead of time.

"I can't comment on later releases on [third-party] games but rumors on this right now aren't true. Sorry. I wish I had better news for you," he said.

No Caption Provided

Black Ops II is the most-requested game for backwards compatibility on the Xbox Feedback site. It has more than 211,000 community votes, which is well ahead of the No. 2 game, Skyrim, which has 173,000. Votes on the Feedback site guarantee nothing, but clearly there is demand.

Call of Duty games make up four of the top five most-requested games to join the backwards compatibility lineup, with Modern Warfare 2 (168,000), Modern Warfare 3 (119,000), and Modern Warfare (114,000) rounding out the top five in terms of votes.

There are already four Xbox 360 Call of Duty games playable on Xbox One: Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Call of Duty: World at War.

The Xbox One's backwards compatibility library has more than 320 games in it--you can see them all here.

It's a safe bet that Activision isn't letting any more CoD's get backwards compatible since they are going to remaster MW2,MW3, BO2 and pair them with CoD 2017, 2018, 2019 to prevent used sales since these will all be digital only just like MW remastered.

Eh, I don't much care for Black Ops or its sequel (contrary to popular opinion, I actually liked the third to some degree). I hope the Crysis games go on, and the G.R.A.W. games, sooner than later. I wouldn't mind the Splinter Cell games be put on either.

Good. I hope it never gets BC. All CODs are Trash AF. COD BO2 is the worst of the bunch. You might say "if it's so bad why is it so popular?" Simple really. The majority of humans are retarded mouth breathers. After all, Trump won. Point proven.

@quackingintensifies: The majority of humans aren't from the United States, and even less that support Trump. Plus, the majority vote went to Clinton, not Trump. I'm not defending Call of Duty, but your comment is goofy.

@quackingintensifies: awww poor easily offended, fragile snowflake. As if IQ means anything in this day and age. Let's ignore the fact that you're extremely uneducated when it comes to politics or even having a credible opinion. On a gaming forum, no less. P.S. go to therapy. Looks like you have some anger management issues.

@quackingintensifies: Lol by the way you type, you sound like the kind of person that even Call Of Duty may be too advanced for you.

CBS runs late stepheb Corb (and GameSpot) show so I'd say it's because their agendas in line with things that are not trumped and GameSpot values their jobs.

Why has Gamespot begun to publish political stories but disable the comments because the comments readers leave do not support their agenda ????

@inkman66: What political stories? What does any of that have to do with BLOPS2 BC?EDIT: I take it you meant this one?

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/valve-voices-concerns-over-us-travel-ban/1100-6447760/

That one got locked because it was filled with 14 year-old 'edgy' trolls.

And as for having an 'agenda', at least they weren't bringing up political arguments in the middle of an unrelated gaming news article...

You ignore the article and not post a comment, that's how. You on the other hand give them what they want. CLICKS AND COMMENTS.....try to keep up.

@inkman66: What are you guys talking about? All that's on this page is an article about 360 BC for COD BLOPS2

...because I only browse with Firefox + NoScript + AdBlock Plus. You have to whitelist the sites you WANT to see, and get none of the 3rd-party garbage.

@inkman66: Yeah its a little annoying. I imagine they don't want a heated debate. But then why even post articles that flame debate, political or gaming? More clicks, more money... so it surprises me that they close them.
