Amid New CoD Rumors, Call Of Duty Dev Issues Cryptic Tweet Before PS5 Event
A notable developer at Treyarch tweeted a series of emojis that imply a potential reveal at Sony's PS5 event later this week.
Fans are eagerly anticipating Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal event that is scheduled for today at 4 PM ET / 1 PM PT, and some developers are playfully issuing hints of what's to come. David Vonderhaar, a senior designer and developer at Call of Duty studio Treyarch, dropped a possible clue that we may see 2020's new Call of Duty game at the event.
Vonderhaar tweeted three coffee cup emojis on Tuesday. While we should avoid drawing any firm conclusions from this, some observers are interpreting the tweet as an implication that there will be a Call of Duty reveal in three days, which would correspond to the PS5 announcement. Currently, details on PS5 games are rather thin, with only no-brainers like Fortnite, the next Battlefield game, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla confirmed.

Thursday's PS5 event is expected to answer many key questions about the console, including possible details on release date, price, and backward compatibility. In terms of the next Call of Duty game, a series of leaks have implied that the next game in the series could be Cold War themed, with leakers suggesting that the name of the game could be Black Ops: Cold War. This would correspond to the Cold War-era spy plane that players found in Call of Duty: Warzone by glitching through walls. It's unclear if we'll have answers to all these questions come Thursday, so we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, CoD Season 4 is live for Warzone and Modern Warfare.
