Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare/Modern Warfare Remaster Bundle Requires 130 GB of Space - Report

The Legacy Edition's file size has been revealed, apparently.

With Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare scheduled to come out in about a month, what appears to be the game's box art has now emerged, revealing some new details about the game.

According to Charlie Intel, text on the back of the Legacy Edition box reportedly states that the game--comprising Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered--will require 130 GB of space between them. It is unclear how that reported file size breaks down between each game.

Now Playing: Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered Livestream

By comparison, last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops III weighed in at 58.61 GB.

The $80 Legacy Edition is one of Infinite Warfare's premium versions that comes with Modern Warfare Remastered, a new version of the beloved 2007 shooter, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

The picture of the box apparently comes from French retailer Micromania. If you preordered one of the premium versions there, the store is apparently handing out a box containing the early access Modern Warfare Remastered code but no Infinite Warfare disc of course. Customers will need to go back to the store on November 4 to get the disc, apparently.

No Caption Provided

Modern Warfare Remastered's campaign is playable right now for PS4 players who preordered one of the premium versions of Infinite Warfare, on a disc or digitally.

The Infinite Warfare box also shows the logos for Certain Affinity, Beenox, and High Moon Studios, listed alongside Infinity Ward (Infinite Warfare lead developer) and Raven Software (Modern Warfare Remastered lead developer).

GameSpot has contacted Activision in an attempt to get more details about Infinite Warfare's file size and co-developers. We'll update this post with anything we hear back.

Infinite Warfare launches on November 4 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The only way to get the Call of Duty 4 remaster is to buy one of the premium versions of Infinite Warfare, for now at least. For more on Modern Warfare Remastered, check out GameSpot's playthrough video above.

Reading the comments below, I'm amazed how many people were the SAME people screaming from Mountain tops about boycotting this and now you're all clambering to make more room on your HD's while bitching about size: hypocrites.

This game is nothing but a ransom bundle. You're paying for a game you don't want and a game you already paid for once before! You're blinded by nostalgia

@Gravity_Slave: If I even think you've contacted the police, you'll never see a Modern Warfare remake again. :)

@Gravity_Slave: Probably. After I finished remastered Skyrim. I have a soft soft for CoD. MW2 was the first multilayer game I played on Xbox live with friends. It's a great series just to pick up and play when you're bored.

@moose-fitz:

I get ya buts it's not the same cod (MW2) anymore. It's in space with lasers. This should make you sad considering your soft spot.

@Gravity_Slave: It doesn't make me sad per se. I get that series have to change over time, it's been seven years since MW2 (which is crazy to think about). Whether it's boots on the ground or boots in space, the gameplay is what I enjoy most about CoD. I'll reserve judgment until I play the game for myself. If sucks and I made a mistake so be it, it happens lol

This is why I hated the idea of consoles wanting to do away with physical media. At 130gb, that would have been half my bandwidth for the month. It's bad enough my IP throttles my bandwidth for days if I download anything more than 20gb at one time.

That's a lot of space. So glad that I picked up a 3TB external hard drive for my Xbox One a while ago.

Another example of how Sony needs to support external HDD's. I've only got maybe 5 games installed on my PS4 and I'll have to uninstall at least 3 of them to play this. Plus if all I want is MWR the damn disc requirement probably means IW will try to install every time I boot up the system/insert the disc to play MWR.

@wtf_666: Why should I have to perform surgery on my console when the option to plug another hdd in exists? I don't mod my PS4 HDD for the same reason I don't build my own PC. I bought an external for my Xbox, plugged in the power, connected it to my Xbox, 30 seconds later I had 4.5TB of space.

@suicidesn0wman: Changing the hard drive on a PS4 is hardly more difficult than connecting an external drive via USB. But I guess for the less technically savvy even the latter might pose a problem.

@Atzenkiller: I built my own PC before and take care of most of my friends PC upgrades. I just want a different option. Wanting a different option doesn't make someone less tech savvy.

@suicidesn0wman: Uhuh. By that you mean a slower option? Because a tech savvy person would know that a hard drive that's connected via USB is slower than if it was connected directly.

So how many surgeries on your friends' computers have you performed yet?

This is not a big open world game its a shooter and a remastered game there is no reason for it to take up that much space these developers need to do their job.

@yukushi: Yes, I've played Witcher 3. It's a beautiful game but it's no more varied in textures and environments than a CoD game. In fact, there may be more various environments in an FPS like that where you have the jungle, the snowy mountains, standard forests, boats, modern facilities, deserts, and all of the buildings, plants, and obstacles that go with those things.

@yukushi: With many games releasing at 50-60gb file sizes, why is it so surprising that TWO games combined would be close to twice as big as a single game? Especially one that has HDR and 4K support for PS4 Pro included...

If you're not a developer, I don't think you have any idea what 'doing their job' actually is.

@RossRichard: So you just keep moving the subject around? Your complaint was how long it will take. If you have a bandwidth cap, go buy a disc and complain to your ISP. Explain to them why you need more bandwidth. However, with Comcast having moved to a 1 TB cap and the competition having virtually none, in the US at least, you're fine dling this game. But if you're just going to be a ludite about digital downloads, you really don't have an argument.

@Iconoclysm: Comcast is actually a really good ISP compared to some of the others. Most ISPs around where I live have a bandwidth cap of around 50 gigs.

@CallMeDuraSouka: i got a 3tb western digital green drive for 60 bucks new never used off craigslist......then i put it all together with a nyko data bank......i also got that used and some places charge 60 to 70 bucks for it.....i got it for 35.......

you can use drives over 2tb but they need the data bank as no laptop drives are over 2......search you tube.....and your going to have to reinstall the OS from a USB drive but its easy.......the data bank uses power and seems to keep the drive running so going with a 2tb laptop drive would be the easy route......

@firedrakes: im telling him what i did.....green drives work fine for this type of use but if i had not gotten so cheap i would have a 7200rpm drive from the blue series........i have a 500gb green drive that is 8 years old i trash as a torrent drive in a home server.....24/7 running for the last 6 years......if it can take that he should fine for 4 or 5 years if he gets on just playing games.......i would not get the green just because of the speed......but i got mine because of price and space
