Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 PlayStation-Exclusive Content Revealed
Microsoft is trying to buy Call of Duty, but Sony is still in business with Activision.
As part of the Call of Duty Next event, Activision announced the latest batch of PlayStation-exclusive content for the Call of Duty series, and it's an Operator bundle for Modern Warfare III. The Lockpick Operator Pack includes an Operator, Lockpick, and related items, and you'll need to preorder the game to unlock the bundle at launch.
Items in the bundle include the Starry Knife melee weapon and the American Gothic SMG. All the content will be available when Modern Warfare III launches on November 10. The fine print states that this content is exclusive to PlayStation platforms until November 9, 2024.
Lockpick's real name is Elodie Micheaux, who is described as a cunning art thief. In the trailer, we see Lockpick attempting to crack into a safe and blasting away enemies in the way.
Sony pays Activision to create content exclusive to PlayStation to help encourage people to buy the PlayStation version of Call of Duty, but this arrangement may be ending soon. Reportedly, Modern Warfare III is the last game in Sony's deal with Activision. But this may have nothing to do with Microsoft's impending deal to buy Activision Blizzard.
Microsoft is in the process of buying Activision Blizzard and all of its games, including Call of Duty. If the deal closes, Call of Duty games might come to Xbox Game Pass, but not right away. Call of Duty games will still come to PlayStation for the next decade if Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard.
Also during Call of Duty Next, Activision announced that Modern Warfare III will introduce more than 30 new weapons and include even more detailed weapon stats in Gunsmith.
Modern Warfare III launches on November 10. The Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer beta begins on October 6, first on PlayStation before expanding to Xbox and PC.
