Canceled Darth Maul-Centric Star Wars Game Wants a Second Chance

The only way in which this could be cool is if Visceral made a violent, bloody, mature rated Star Wars game with combat better than TFU but similar - maybe more along the lines of God of War in its violence, and a well written story - unlike God of War.

I would prefer Lucasarts publish it than EA but it still has more chance of success than that EA's Battlefront because EA doesn't own Red Fly.

I really loved Force Unleashed. It was novel and very refreshing. If the same can be done or better with the Maul game then I say do it up. Look forward to it!

My 2 cents, I would enjoy this game as long as it is made well. Force unleashed was really good and I enjoyed it a lot.

I'd definitely play a Darth Maul game, although 8 or 9 seems a bit too young. Maybe his late teens at least?

any star wars game is welcomed at this point. the whole premise of this game seems pretty interesting... but you know what....

JUST MAKE KOTOR III ALREADY GOD DAMNIT! IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE AMAZING. HELL, LET IT PLAY LIKE THE LAST 2 GAMES WITH UPDATED GRAPHICS FOR ALL I CARE, JUST MAKE IT!

we get half assed star wars games all the time. TOR, this new battlefront that just looks like a re-skinned battlefield expansion pack...

I just want a jedi rpg action game! Whether its knights of the Old Republic or New Republic or the dark side, I want one!!! Please make something!!!! But let it be good!

The game should actually be about Maul post Episode 1, that would be more entertaining. Get pieced back together by your mother, then set out killing everything in your path alongside your brother(couch co-op?) looking for Obi-wan. Tie it into the events from the Clone Wars cartoon too.

Darth Maul was the only cool thing about the last three Star Wars movies. This game deserves to be made.

It needs to be a series so we can play as young Maul, when Palpatine takes him in, and Maul after he's resurrected.

A lot of the prequel video games were better than their movie counter parts; Republic Commando, Pod Racer, The first 2 Battlefronts, The first Lego Star Wars, even The Clone Wars had its moments. So hopefully this one sees the light of day.

Meh. Make another Jedi Knight game and I'll get excited. I re-downloaded these games last weekend, still tons of fun. Great missions, awesome force powers, cool lightsaber battles, what more could you ask for.

I wish for a Jedi academy style game and a hardcore space combat sim along a sandbox space sim.

Though he was a cool villain in The Phantom Menace (because of his acrobatic combat and shroud of mystery), this is a BIG NO THANK-YOU for me. Not interested. Too Narrow of a scope. Include him as a playable character in some other Star Wars game, or DLC. But no way to a stand-alone game. Put his back-story into a book or graphic novel. At least that's my opinion.

That's a pretty cool concept, Darth Maul was one of the best thing the prequel had to offer and of course he got too little screen time and was killed in the first movie.

If you're going to make a lightsaber based combat game I couldn't thing of a better character on which to base a game, Maul is cool, and the game looks great, his highly acrobatic combat technique would provide a great visual experience. I'd buy it! To be fair I think anything with Star Wars on the box would sell right now!

Ugh....let it go. He isn't an interesting or important character, just a well trained assassin who couldn't even defeat an apprentice. From the prequel era, I'd take almost anyone else first. Even Dex! :D

Personally, I hate the premise of this game. Some might like it but to me it goes against what the Star Wars saga stands for, the good in us triumphing over the evil. I admit for some there's some fun to be had in playing the villian in a comic book way but I fear this might cross the line. Flame me if you want saying things like "just don't buy it" and "let people enjoy want they want" but there's enough moral-free crap out there already. No need to drag something good into it as well. We also don't need to give impressionable 9 to 11 year olds a role model on how to turn to the dark side (and don't say they wont play it, let's be honest). Just because you can tell a story, doesn't mean you should. -- My opinion of EA would go up if they don't make this game. Okay let the yelling at me begin.

The true Sith is Eddie Makuch.

He's my favorite Sith Lord; Vader is too chatty, Count Dooku is too elegant and Palpatine is an old fart. Plus, he has an awesome dual lightsaber, unlike the upcoming Darth Fabulous with his unpractical crossguard lightsaber.

Regardless of your feelings for "Phantom Menace", it's hard to argue that Darth Maul wasn't a super underappreciated character. I sincerely hope this makes it to production!

Personally, I thought he was the most interesting character in episode 1. Too bad the killed him way too early, it would have been cool to see him in 2,3.

Only if it stayed true to being on a Nintendo system (Since it was planned to be a Wii game), motion controls with the Wii remote, swinging your lightsaber and cutting guys in half would be amazing.

I'd play it. We saw how Darth Vader rose to power, so to see Darth Maul's history would be interesting.

I remember reading that George Lucas was able to turn down any pitches for a Star Wars game that he didn't like.
So The Force Unleashed was GL approved, while this game wasn't.
So was the original trilogy.... So take from that what you will.

I guess Kotor 3 really really isn't going to happen.. Bummer.. I wouldn't want EA getting it's greedy paws on it anyways.

The story of the torture of a 9-11 year old, even if it's an alien, probably won't ever get told in a video game. Not even for Star Wars.

Good with it, sounds great. Though if we are considering characters like Maul, maybe have a reboot of Bounty Hunter? (Seriously, I loved that game, flawed but a lot of fun to me)
