Capcom Announces Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Frank West is making a comeback in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster later this year.

It's been nearly eight years since Dead Rising 4 hit consoles, but Capcom is finally ready to revisit its other zombie franchise. While another sequel doesn't seem to be on the horizon, the original game is getting a second redo in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

Capcom announced the new remaster alongside a teaser trailer that brings back the series' original protagonist, Frank West. But unlike the 2016 HD remake of Dead Rising, the Deluxe Remaster appears to be a completely updated take on the 2006 game with a look that's closer to Capcom's Resident Evil remakes from the past few years.

Although there's no gameplay in this teaser, the core premise of the title appears to remain the same. Frank is a photojournalist who is looking to get the story of a career by dropping into a zombie-infested mall for 72 hours. Presumably the remaster will once again allow Frank to deal with the zombie hordes in his own inventive fashion, while adding a few new tricks to his arsenal.

Capcom hasn't announced a release date for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, but it will be coming to the current generation of consoles. And if this return to the franchise is successful, perhaps we'll finally get Dead Rising 5 some time down the road.

Never play the game before, so can't be too negative on this. Frank West looks more like a Walking Dead antagonist, than a pratagonist he supposed to be. He looks like he wore leather blazer, which is cool on its own, so why people focus so much on his VA (short for voice actor) though? It's not like it could ruin every parts of the game.

There are no perfect games, they are not exist. Even GoTY (game of the year for short), have their own flaws, so what's the fuss about this? Is this about the movie or the game itself? This is confusing

This game didn't get a previous remake. iirc it was backwards compat.

***The game failed badly in 1 department= the people you rescue offer absolutely nothing for your group. After you save them you get a point!

Now if the survivors you rescue offered Frank a perk of somekind that would be something...The was fun at launch but i couldnt return & didn't like the sequels.

What 2016 HD remake of Dead Rising is this article talking about? Did the writer seriously manage to confuse the movie with a game? Gamespot, please do your basic job as journalists.

@chronocommander: 2016 saw the games get a remaster and put out on new platforms. Xbox One, PS4, and Steam releases of 1,2, and Off The Record were all released at the same time. Graphics were touched up and in the original game extra save slots were allotted to the player. They are also available on the Xbox Series X/S as well as PS5.

@ZZoMBiE13: That's the thing, it was remastered for these platforms, not remade. An outlet like Gamespot shouldn't mischaracterise the release and should fact-check before publishing and recently they've made several factual errors. For example, they were talking about Green Man Gaming reselling keys when it's a licensed store just because GameSpot copy-pasted an article from Kotaku without checking. The typos and other errors cropping up everywhere are also increasing, really concerned about this site.
