Capcom Invests $20 Million in Ads
Capcom announces a 20 million-dollar advertising budget for its survival-horror titles on the PlayStation and N64.
Capcom has announced a 20 million-dollar advertising budget for its new survival-horror games: Dino Crisis and Resident Evil 3 for the PlayStation and Resident Evil 2 for the Nintendo 64. The advertising campaign includes national television advertising, print advertising, consumer promotions, and retail-level promotions.
The company also stated that it shipped over 650,000 units of Dino Crisis on September 23, selling through more than 300,000 in the first ten days. Capcom expects to sell 1.5 million copies of Resident Evil 3, which launches in November. Also releasing in November is Resident Evil 2 on the Nintendo 64. Capcom plans to sell 500,000 copies.
