London calling.

With Assassin's Creed Syndicate's release now just days away, GameSpot played through some early missions, revealing more gameplay and the game's map in the process. Skip to around 13 minutes in the video below to see the full map, or scroll down and click through the gallery to see some points of interest.

GameSpot editor and former London resident Danny O'Dwyer says in the video that Syndicate's recreation of London is pretty spot-on. It features six real-world boroughs: Whitechapel, Southwark, Westminster, the Strand, and Lambeth. The river Thames is also featured in the game.

In a May 2015 interview with IGN, Ubisoft said Syndicate's map was about 30 percent larger than Assassin's Creed Unity's. That game took place in Paris during the French Revolution.

Syndicate launches on October 23 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, while the PC edition arrives on November 19. You can get a free copy of the PC version with the purchase of a Samsung monitor or SSD. In other recent Syndicate news, Ubisoft sent us pictures of an eagle to promote the game.

Oh no......I see collectables (with animus fragments icons plus others)....Now a days I am playing and enjoying AC:Black Flag but collectables are the most annyoing thing in it. I collected them in frustration to just make them disappear on the map. 200 animus frags in big map.......ah so much tedious for a great game....

looks so rubbish the way targets light up with a white boarder round themselves... actually, everything apart from the map looks poor and boring in my opinion.

That can't be right. It's not an AC map if the whole thing isn't obscured by busywork markers.

Maybe I'll wait for the next AC game...should be released around Jan/Feb? Then another a few months later...and another...

I did like Black Flag a lot tho.

@wtf_666: Last AC game I actually enjoyed playing even though it's technically more a Pirates of the Caribbean game than it ever was an AC game.

It reminds me of The Order. I too have AC fatigue so I'll be passing on this one.

I don't understand why you'd make an hour long video with people playing the game who actively don't like the franchise.

@Evanduil: See it's pretty hard to actually find a person who still actively likes the franchise these days. Most people's attitudes towards AC have soured over the course of the last 3 games, this applies to game journalists aswell.

@Evanduil: I couldn't watch past a minute thirty. Attention span was shot at that point! Boring to watch or maybe this AC is what is actually boring. Nah, it's both!

@GarGx1: The next time I'll buy an AC game is when they've rebooted the franchise and overhauled everything and started new from the ground up and since that won't ever happen, guess I'm done with Assassin's Creed too.

@jonhuggs: I imagine there's an embargo on reviews for a game this size. Or they didn't actually get the game until very recently and they're still working on it. It doesn't come out for another few days, and it's generally most effective to have your review up close to launch.

It's not like they aren't going to review a $60 Assassin's Creed game.

Why do they keep screwing up the combat system? Just expand on what you had going in Brotherhood. Ugh, it's like their focus groups have never played AC.

@Kiyosuyo: It's thanks to those focus groups that the AC franchise is in the toilet it's in now. No more Desmond, 12 hours of historical tours, stand next to this historical figure/protect this historical figure gameplay etc it's all to blame on the idiots who participate in these studies.

@Kiyosuyo: The combat has never been very good in AC though, even in Brotherhood. I'd rather they keep trying to improve it, even if it just ends up being Arkham combat, than stick with what they've had.

1868? Charles Darwin? Is it going to touch on "The Variation of Animals and Plants under Domestication". Maybe he'll ruffle some feathers.

@Kiyosuyo: Creationist fundamentalist loons should start getting their lighter fluid ready, book burnings can now get real modernized and they can start holding video game burnings instead. Yeeehaw!

@jtg93: 30% more irritating NPCs, 30% more chests to unlock, 30% more sheets of music to chase, 30% more dogs/cats to pet, 30% more glyphs to find, 30% more pockets to pick, 30% more ZZZZZZZZ

Sorry I was just resting my eyes...because of all the...um, excitement. :|

I was excited for the combat possibly being better in this one than unity but im not so sure now. Black Flag is still the one where the combat stuck out the most to me, i still remember picking up an axe from a marauder and hiding behind the wall of a house waiting for a guard to pass by and lodging the axe in his skull then putting my foot on his face to yank it out after he was on the ground. So satisfying.

I'm so disconnected with Assassins Creed due to the yearly dump I had no idea this even comes out this week. Should I care? Are they packing in more unrealistic quantities of NPC for any game this time too?

@bobafetthatesu: Same stuff over and over nowadays, but OH, now you get a Batclaw zipline too. Exciting stuff. Realistic too. It was common back then.

@Wintermist: Oh yes my great grandmother used to regale us with tales of how she used to zipline from building to building. Everyone was doing it in those days...that is until laws were implemented to bring an end to all that victorian era spider-manning. Just a shame those poor White Chapel whores couldn't afford their own batclaws otherwise they might've escaped their grisly fates by propelling themselves to the nearest rooftop. ;)
