Code Veronica FPS Mode?

Will the first-person-shooter mode of Resident Evil: Code Veronica remain in the final version of the game? Details inside.

Comments

Ever since we first got word of a first-person-shooter mode in Resident Evil: Code Veronica last year, we've been enthusiastically talking about it. And why not? Being able to blast zombies from a first-person perspective adds a lot to the standard Resident Evil formula. We first saw the FPS mode in the beta version of the Japanese Code Veronica, but it was mysteriously absent from the demo that came with the Biohazard 2 Value Pack that was released in Japan last month.

The latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) featured some actual screens of this FPS mode, but the magazine mentioned that, according to Capcom, there was a 95 percent chance it would make it into the final game.

We decided to check up on the matter with Capcom today. According to a spokesperson for the company, it looks as though the mode will not likely be found in the final version of the game - unless it's a secret. A secret would make sense - perhaps it's attainable after you finish the game? We're hoping it's still in there, but as John Ricciardi wrote in EGM, there aren't really any areas in the game where it's necessary to switch to the first-person mode. We'll keep you posted when we hear more.

Included with this article are the two screens of the first-person mode that ran in EGM, so you can see exactly what we're talking about.
