Conan Exiles Gets New Trailer, Release Date for PC and Xbox One Early Access

Funcom today launched a new gameplay trailer for Conan Exiles and announced when the game will be available to play in early access on PC and Xbox One.

Today's trailer, which is the first new one in nearly six months, shows off a series of sequences, including those involving exploration, combat, and building.

As for the release date, Conan Exiles will be available in early access on PC starting on January 31, 2017. An unfinished version of the game for Xbox One will follow in Spring 2017, playable through the console's Game Preview program. Sony's PS4 does not allow early access-style games.

"The open-world survival genre is ripe for Conan's conquest," game director Joel Bylos said in a statement. "If there ever was a world that can truly test your strength and skill, it is the brutal and savage world of Conan the Barbarian. Conan Exiles is not just an empty sandbox, it is a world rich in history where you must discover the secrets of ancient civilizations as you struggle to build your own."

The game's early access period was originally scheduled to begin in September 2016. However, the developer confirmed in June that it would be delayed until 2017 to "make a better game." Additionally, Funcom recently "secured additional funding," which means the developer is in a "much more flexible" financial situation, according to Bylos.

Conan Exiles is described as an open-world game that's inspired by the stories of Robert E. Howard. It is multiplayer-centric, though you can play alone, too.
