Conan Reviews Super Smash Bros. for Wii U With a GameCube Controller
It won't be out until later this year, but Conan O'Brien has already shared his impressions of Nintendo's new fighting game.
After bringing us the very first "review" of Watch Dogs, late night talk show host Conan O'Brien has now given the same treatment to the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
In the latest installment of his "Clueless Gamer" series, Conan played the upcoming fighting game--and with a GameCube controller, no less. This is notable in part because the game is still months away from release; it does not yet have an exact date, but Nintendo said this week it's expected out this holiday. (The 3DS version will be out on October 3.)
Calling it Super Smash "Bros" (as opposed to "Brothers"), Conan playfully ridiculed much of the game, highlighting the absurdity of pitting someone with an umbrella--the Animal Crossing Villager--against someone with a sword--Fire Emblem's Marth. He mistook Samus for "one of the guys from Daft Punk" and, upon seeing Greninja, asked, "You want to know what I want to know: What ideas do they edit out at Nintendo?"
Also, on account of the game not being available (and therefore not having a box for him to hold up), Conan took it upon himself to design his own box art, which you can see to the right.
In addition to Super Smash Bros., Conan has been checking out E3 for himself--we've spotted him at Nintendo's booth and checking out Forza 5.
We also got to go hands-on with Super Smash Bros. this week and found it resolves some of the issues in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. We also learned about the game's Amiibo support and a handful of its new playable characters, such as Pac-Man, Lady Palutena, and player-created Miis.
