Console Omikron Not Dead

GameSpot News confirms that Omikron is still being planned for the console market - with a PlayStation2 version highly likely.

Back in July Eidos revealed to GameSpot News that Omikron had been cancelled for the PlayStation, citing “an issue of so much art and too much detail for the PlayStation to handle." Immediately the question came to mind, what about bringing the title to a more advanced platform? An Eidos spokesperson commented that a perhaps down the road a PlayStation2 version could be a possibility. So the topic was left at that.

However Quantic Dream, the developers of the PC version of Omikron, recently revealed to GameSpot News that a console incarnation is definitely more than a possibility. “We are now discussing about the different versions that we will develop for Omikron,” said a company spokesperson. Stressing that nothing has been signed so nothing could be commented on, the spokesperson hinted that an official announcement would come soon.

As for which platform(s) Omikron might be headed for, the developer commented “The PlayStation2 is very attractive for our next games...” However, it should be noted that Quantic Dream is currently looking to hire Dreamcast programmers.

We'll have more information soon.
