Crackdown 3 Delayed to 2017, Confirmed for PC and Xbox One

That explains why it wasn't at Microsoft's E3 media briefing.

One of the most glaring omissions from today's Microsoft E3 press conference was Crackdown 3. We may now know why: the new game won't be released until next year, Reagent Games creative director Dave Jones announced today.

Crackdown 3's multiplayer component was expected to be out sometime in 2016, but Reagent realized it couldn't deliver on the schedule it had previously set for itself.

"Crackdown 3 is a game built for the future with a multiplayer experience that will redefine what it feels like to play games, and as we continue to work on this, it has become clear that our original timeline of delivering multiplayer to fans this summer, while maintaining the size, scope and quality of the game, would be challenging," Jones said in a blog post. "Our top priority is to give gamers an experience they have never seen before at a scale never thought possible, and sticking to our original timeline would have compromised that goal."

We'll now be waiting until 2017 for Crackdown 3, although it's unclear if we'll only be seeing the multiplayer component then or the full game.

Jones also confirmed that Crackdown 3 is coming to both Xbox One and PC. Like many of the games announced at today's Microsoft press conference, Crackdown 3 will be a Play Anywhere title, meaning if you buy a digital copy on one platform, you'll also get access to it on the other.

A teaser site for the game recently popped up and seemed to suggest a beta was on the way, but there was no word regarding that in Jones' message.

Was at least hoping for some kinda of gameplay sneak peek. Been waiting for Crackdown 3 for such a long time, it seems.

Sucks, but I hope they can deliver what they're saying they will with that extra time.

I should've seen this coming. Soon as I wind up with an Xbox One, all the games I had wanted one for are announced for PC...if i had paid for it, that would been annoying.
