Cranky Kong takes over Nintendo's Twitter account
In a bid to promote upcoming Wii U game Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, curmudgeonly character tweeting from Nintendo's account.
If you checked Twitter today to find some outlandish tweets from the Nintendo of America channel, rest easy, the account was not hacked. Instead, a Nintendo employee is writing tweets as Cranky Kong, the elderly and bad-tempered version of Donkey Kong.
His first tweet was: "AHEM! This is Cranky Kong. Nintendo told me to deal with Twitter today. Once they explained it wasn’t some new animal buddy, I agreed." This was followed up by the meme you see above. Presumably, many more are to come.
The Twitter takeover is obviously a bid to promote Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for Wii U, which launches this Sunday. Cranky Kong is a playable character in the title, appearing in-game with his cane, which he uses to vault over objects and attack enemies.
