Crimson Tears Impressions

Capcom is working on a new third-person beat-'em-up starring a handful of "human biological weapons."

At a press event held just prior to the 2003 Tokyo Game Show, Capcom has displayed its upcoming action game, Crimson Tears. The game, which is being developed for the PlayStation 2 by DreamFactory, is a cel-shaded action game that, from what we've seen so far, looks like it could be a pretty cool 3D beat-'em-up.

Crimson Tears takes place in the year 2049 and stars three playable characters, each of whom is classified as a "human biological weapon." The three characters, named Kaede, Asuka, and Tokio, all use different weapons and appear to have different attacks. The action will take place from a third-person perspective, and will focus on moving through randomly generated dungeons and beating up anything in your path. The game will keep track of your ability to string moves together into combos by way of an on-screen indicator.

The game will feature some sort of RPG-like character improvement system, meaning your characters will level up as you fight your way through the dungeons.

We'll have more from the Tokyo Game Show floor on Crimson Tears. The game is currently scheduled to be released in Japan sometime in 2004.
